Dot Net Exclusive: The story behind Torrie Wilson's departure from WWE

Torrie Wilson asked to be released from her WWE contract and the company obliged that request last month. Although surgeons had advised her not to wrestle due to her back problems, WWE officials were planning to feature her in a non-wrestling role by having her make special appearances.

Powell's POV: I'm not sure why Wilson wanted out, but a source I spoke with speculated that it was probably a combination of her wanting to be more involved with managing a business she opened and her desire for less travel. It's assumed that WWE agreed to cover the expense of her recent back surgery and some of the rehab costs as part of her release.
