Rey Mysterio is still hoping to return from torn biceps surgery in six weeks despite his surgeon telling WWE.com that the recovery time is generally six-to-nine months. Prowrestling.net broke the news hours before Mysterio’s surgery last week that he had chosen to undergo a new surgical procedure that reduces the recovery time from six months to six weeks. As noted in the original report, he will not be able to wrestle at WrestleMania 24, but he has been assured that he will be part of the Floyd Mayweather and Big Show story line.

Powell’s POV: Mysterio is still targeting a six-week return, but he could sit out a few more weeks just to be on the safe side. Either way, he intends to be back in the ring long before the six-to-nine month timeline that was reported on the WWE website, assuming he doesn’t suffer a setback. WWE.com may have featured selective quotes from the surgeon to make it appear Mysterio would be out longer. I noted that last week in the Rey Mysterio injury update, which recapped their version of the story.
