Dot Net Exclusive News: More on WWE and Oscar De La Hoya
Feb 20, 2008 - 12:23 PM

-Regarding our previous report that WWE reached out to Oscar De La Hoya, a source close to the situation notes that one of his agent turned down the offer on his client’s behalf. The source believes WWE officials either have or will attempt to speak to De La Hoya directly in hopes getting him involved in the angle. In case you missed it, here’s our original news item regarding WWE and De La Hoya.

Powell’s POV: Oscar is one of the biggest pay-per-view names in the industry. He’s also a huge star to the Hispanic demographic that WWE covets. One source noted that WWE originally wanted to pair De La Hoya and Mysterio, and feature Mayweather as a heel with another wrestler (I've heard MVP). WWE officials are said to be hopeful that De La Hoya wasn't even aware of the brief conversation(s) that took place with the agent. It's worth noting again that De La Hoya and Mayweather are planning a September boxing rematch.
