WWE’s plug of an independent website that features information regarding the TNA Lockdown schedule and upcoming house show dates is not a mistake. A well-placed source informed Prowrestling.net that the company made a conscious decision to launch this new section and was obviously selective about the information they chose to post on WWE.com.
Powell’s POV: I’m not sure what to make of WWE essentially advertising TNA and its events. I suppose it could help them fight off any potential accusations of being monopolistic—not that I’ve ever heard of that being an issue. I don’t think you’ll see WWE mentioning TNA on their television broadcasts anytime soon.
Rather, I believe this is an attempt to position the website as being a balanced source for information or something along those lines. Of course, they still maintain control of the content (I've been told they even have a content editor picking out the headlines) they choose to post on their website and they aren’t linking directly to the websites they cited, but this is a very interesting strategy by WWE.com to say the least.
