2012 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony Report: Edge, The Four Horsemen, Mike Tyson, Ron Simmons, Mil Mascaras, a name from the past accepts for Yokozuna

Dot Net reader Nick Aiello attended the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday in Miami, Fla. and sent the following report.

They were selling some shirts at the merchandise stands. They had some WrestleMania, Edge, Ron Simmons and Hall of Fame shirts. Brodus Clay was in an all white tux with his Funkasaurus hat.

John Laurinaitis got heat when he appeared on screen before the event stated. The crowd popped though when he pretended to be on his blackberry like he does on Raw.
Massive heat for John Cena. "Let's go Cena/Cena sucks" chants throughout the night. Tomorrow doesn't look pretty for him.

They requested people dress in business casual but didn't enforce it as I saw many people in t-shirts and shorts. It didn't start out 95 percent full but by the end it was around there.

The event was hosted Jerry Lawler.

Ron Simmons inducted by JBL

JBL opened by saying he couldn't repeat what he told someone backstage because it was a PG program. He also took a shot at Vince Russo. JBL gave the best introduction speech of the six in my opinion. Ron said there was one world that summed up how he felt - honored... Ron thanked JBL, his wife, and the superstars of the past. He closed with a great big Damn!

Mil Mascaras inducted by Alberto Del Rio

No Ricardo Rodriguez with Del Rio. Mascaras was tough to understand because of a combo of poor sound and english isn't his first language. He talked about his two wives and why he chose America, but again was tough to understand.

The Four Horsemen inducted by Dusty Rhodes

Dusty related the Horsemen to the Rat Pack and the Beatles. High praise for Arn Anderson from Rhodes. Ric Flair got very emotional during his portion. Very humble speeches from all five guys. Anderson went on last and did a fantastic job.

Mike Tyson inducted by Triple H and Shawn Michaels

Comedy Speech by DX. A few jokes about Michaels getting knocked out at WrestleMania 14. Triple H had a great line about Michaels always being better than him. Undertaker chants immediately started. I couldn't hear/understand half of what Tyson said, but it didn't seem like I was missing anything.

Yokozuna inducted by the Uso Brothers

A video showed clips of WrestleMania 9. They happened to leave out how he actually won the title and lost to Hulk Hogan two minutes later. The Uso Brothers made a nice joke about his Japanese gimmick while really being Samoan. Rikishi accepted the ring/award on behalf of Yokozuna.

Edge inducted by Christian

Christian said he had news that was bigger than anything that would take place tomorrow - "Somebody got a haircut." Christian showed some footage of Edge mock wrestling a match by himself in his old high school from about a month ago. Pretty funny stuff. Christian got choked up when he talked about Edge retiring.

Edge said he originally won pro wrestling training by winning a write in essay contest. Edge talked about people who influenced him in the business The notables included Lance Storm, Bad News Brown, Rhyno, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Owen Hart, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Zack Ryder, William Regal, Tommy Dreamer, Christian and his mom.

Edge told a hilarious story that I hope makes it to TV about him doing a naked Superfly splash onto Tommy Dreamer because Dreamer was snoring. He closed with saying he was tired of the Hall of Fame music and wanted to hear some rock and roll instead. They then brought everyone out for one last bow.
