6/14 TNA in Kearney, Neb.: Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner vs. Beer Money, Awesome Kong vs. ODB, Matt Morgan vs. Abyss, Suicide vs. Homicide vs. Jay Lethal for the X Division Title, Matt Morgan vs. Abyss

TNA in Kearney, Neb.
Report by Dot Net correspondent Dale Miller
TNA made its debut in Kearney, Neb., on Sunday. It was a rarity having a major company put on a show in the central part of the state. I'd estimate about 800 fans attended.
1. Eric Young defeated Consequences Creed. Young got a positive reaction when he came out, but the fans quickly got behind Creed once the match started. The two traded several near falls. Creed went up to the top rope, but Young knocked his leg out to crotch him and went on to win.
2. ODB over Awesome Kong. ODB was the fan favorite here. She tried to powerslam Kong several times before hitting one. Kong kept beating on ODB when she was on the ropes and didn't appreciated referee Rudy Charles trying to stop her. She hoisted Charles up for a powerbomb, but ODB rolled her up from behind for the win.
3. Suicide beat Jay Lethal and Homicide in an X Division title three-way. Shouldn't creative come up with a character called Natural Causes to insert in this match instead of Lethal? Black Machismo promised to unmask the "shapeshifter" Suicide. Lethal and Homicide worked together against Suicide for a while before that predictably fell apart. With Homicide on the outside, Suicide hit the Suicide Solution on Lethal to retain.
4. Daniels defeated Sheik Abdul Bashir. It is great to hear the real version of "Disposable Teens" when the artist formerly known as "The Fallen Angel Christopher" came out. He translated Bashir's prematch promo as "You want Daniels to kick your ass Nebraska-style." Bashir controlled quite a bit of the match before Daniels took over and won with the moonsault.
5. Matt Morgan beat Abyss. Abyss tried to bring a chair into play. Earl Hebner took it away, but Morgan eventually got it and propped it in one of the six corners. That allowed Abyss to sneak up from behind and low blow him. He set the folded chair on top of Morgan and went for a splash, but Morgan got the chair up to rack Abyss as he sat down and get the win. My wife noted that Abyss uses great smelling hair products while they were brawling ringside near us. That's good for a rehabilitating monster.
6. Beer Money beat Kurt Angle (with stubble) and Scott Steiner. Steiner ripped on the city and the fans in his fractured English. James Storm took a break in the crowd while that was going on and started up a "you suck" chant. Storm and Robert Roode got a "beer...money...big ol' boobies" chant going for sophomoric humor at its best. Once the match started, Storm did the old pull down the tights on a sunset flip attempt spot on Angle, so everyone in the crowd got an Olympic moon.
Eventually Storm spit beer in Steiner's face which led to a double team and win. Angle thanked the crowd after the match. He said he spent six years in WWE ("pretty good years" he said after boos) but he prefers being in TNA because of the fans even if the company isn't selling out 15,000 seat arenas. Angle had pictures taken for $20 while many of the other wrestlers signed autographs for free.
Notes: Having attended WWE and ROH events in the past three months, I have to echo all the compliments TNA live events get. They are very fan friendly, and with every ticket except the first eight rows here priced at $20, very wallet friendly too. TNA may do a lot of things wrong, but it does house shows right. They are just as enjoyable, if not more so, as the other major companies' events.
