5/2 TNA in Huntington, W. Va.: Jeff Jarrett and Team 3D vs. Booker T and Beer Money, B.G. James returns to the ring, strong walkup sales due to a high school prom in the same venue, one wrestler appeared to be phoning it in

TNA in Huntington, W. Va.
Report by Dot Net reader Ben Hough

The arena was a little over half full. Funny note: Hooked onto the arena is a convention center which was holding a high school prom. There was a lot of Walk up business as a lot parents who were dropping there kids off ended up buying tickets to the TNA show.

Jeremy Borash came out to do his usual routine of getting the crowd pumped up. They handed out some backstage passes before starting the first match.

1. Eric Young beat Kioshi. Young got a nice ovation. It was a very good X Division style match with lots of near falls.

2. BG James beat Brutus Magnus in an impromptu match. Magnus came out and cut a heel promo. He came out wearing his new long tights. He challenged anyone from the back to a match. BG James came out and asked Magnus to leave the ring. Magnus attcked him, leading to a quick match that went under two minutes. James won with the pumphandle slam.

3. TNA Knockout Champion Angelina Love beat ODB. The match had a ton of heat. ODB was really over and the Love had unreal heel heat. Love won with a roll up. The match was good, but was worked very safe, presumably due to Love's recent concussion.

JB read a text from Booker T calling the fans "morons" to get heel heat for his match later on.

4. Consequences Creed beat Sheik Abdul Bashir. Bashier got the biggest heel heat of the evening. The fans were really into the match, which went over 15 minutes. Bashir used the ropes for leverage to gain the pin. However, Earl Hebner restarted the match and Creed won with his finisher to a loud USA chant.

There was a 15-minute intermission.

5. Abyss beat Kip James. Abyss got a great pop for his entrance, but the match itself had no heat. It was slow paced. Kip did not look like he wanted to be there at all. Abyss won with the Black Hole Slam. After the match, Kip gave the DX chop to the fans before leaving to no reaction.

6. Team 3D and Jeff Jarrett beat Beer Money and Booker T in a six-man tag main event. Beer Money came out to a thundering chorus of boos. Booker got a mixed reaction, but was in full heel mode, so he turned the fans against him quickly by refusing to do a spinaroonie. The crowd was really into the match, which went about 15 minutes before Team 3D put Robert Roode through a table and than pinned him. All six men worked hard. A fun match!

After the match Team 3D and Jeff Jarrett gave a piece of the table to a young child at ringside and than Jarrett got on the mic while the fans chanted "Thank You Jeff." He thanked everyone for coming out and than stated there would be an autograph session.

Eric Young, ODB, Abyss, and Consequences Creed came out to sign autographs and Team 3D did the photos in the ring for 20 bucks.

Notes and Observations: Even though the card was kind of light on star power, the show was still solid. The crowd was into everything and were hot all night. JB was great as usual in keeping the fans into the event.

The card was rearranged somewhat due to Shark Boy missing the show due to illness. He was originally scheduled to face Kip James, and Magnus was supposed to face Abyss, but were changed to Abyss vs. Kip James and Magnus vs. BG James.

As stated above, Kip James really seemed to be phoning it in. He didn't look like he wanted to be there at all and the match with Abyss was godawful. James mostly stalled by going out of the ring. Poor Abyss tried, but James just didn't seem to want to work at all tonight.

Again, I've been to several TNA shows and this was the lightest on "star power" and match selection, but the crowd really enjoyed it and it was a nice showcase for wrestlers like Creed, Bashir, and Young to get to show what they can do. The wrestlers all seemed to be enjoying themselves, other than Kip James, and four matches were given 10 minutes or more, which is always a plus.

Top Face Pops
1. Team 3D
2. Jeff Jarrett
3. Eric Young
4. Abyss (for his entrance)
5. ODB

Top Heel Heat
1.Sheik Abdul Bashir
2. Beer Money
3. Angelina Love
4. Booker T (once the match started)
