8/16 TNA in York, Pa.: Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss in the rain, Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne, Motor City Machine Guns vs. Ink Inc. for the TNA Tag Titles, TNA wrestler doesn't acknowledge fans during a meet and greet
Sep 17, 2010 - 10:25 AM

TNA house show
York, Pa.
Report by Dot Net reader Josh D.

I attended the TNA live event in York, Pa tonight and all I can say is wow. I purchased the $50 ticket, which gave you a seat in one of the first three rows and let you in the door an hour early for the TNA meet and greet. Don West had insane deals going right away. The biggest deal was the Don West brown bag special of a new RVD white t-shirt with four random DVDs for 20 bucks.

The meet and great was one of the coolest things I was ever a part of. I have read how fan friendly TNA is, and you seriously have no idea until you are actually there. Stars in the meet and greet backstage were Velvet Sky, Rhino, D'Angelo Dinero, Jeff Hardy, Ink Inc., Machine Guns, Kaz, Abyss, and even D-Lo Brown was nice enough to take pictures and sign stuff. Everybody was really cool, especially Rhino, Jesse Neal, and Pope. Shannon Moore just came across as a jerk and acted like he didn't want to be there. If you tried talking to him he would ignore you where everyone else had no problem making small talk.

The night was crazy from the start because it was pouring down rain and seemed like it was never going to let up. The Start time was 7:45 and out came Jeremy Borash talking about giving out backstage passes to the loudest fans. Of course that led to A.J Styles came out and said he wanted nobody backstage that they were so awful they were even being rained on. This then caused Jeff Jarrett to come out and challenge A.J to a match and if Jeff won the fans could go to the back, and if A.J won no fans were aloud in the back.

1. Jeff Jarrett beat AJ Styles. This was and fairly good match even in the rain. A little sliding around in the ring but Jeff Jarrett was able to defeat A.J Style with The Stroke.

2. Madison Rayne over Velvet Sky. This was okay Knockouts action. It was pretty much what you would expect in the rain. And it was good seeing two ladies tough it out and wrestle a match in the rain. Rayne won with a pain and her feet on the ropes to sneak in a dirty pin for the win.

3. "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero defeated Rhino. Rhino came out to the fans cheering for him and got a pretty good reaction. Then out came the Pope to a lot of cheers. Rhino took the mic and said he was pissed because the fans cheered him when he came out, but now they are cheering the Pope. He told the fans they sucked, which of course caught a whole lot of boos. As Rhino was complaining, Pope was sliding around on the wet ring enjoying himself like a 10 year old boy. Good stuff. Quick match. Good back in forth, but kept short because of the downpour. Pope won with his double knee facebreaker.

4. Motor City Machine Guns defeated Ink, Inc. to retain the TNA Tag Titles. A very good match. Everything the Guns do in person is so real. When the Guns kick someone in the face or stomach it is loud as crap and looks painful for the receiver. Good back and forth but the Guns stayed on top the whole time. The Guns won obviously because the belts aren't going to be dropped at the York Fair with 500 people to witness in the rain. After the match, all four men celebrated in the ring with Guns helping Ink Inc. to their feet and raising their hands. The Guns did a few baseball slides in the wet ring before posing and leaving. Fun match.

5. Samoa Joe defeated Kaz. Not a soul cared when Kaz came out. I don't know if the guy will ever be over with the fans. When Samoa Joe's music hit, the place went nuts. At this time, the rain slowed down. It was a pretty good X Division type match. Joe won the match with the Muscle Buster. After the match, Joe took the mic and thanked the fans for coming out. Joe told us TNA was the best wrestling company and he was happy to be working for them.

6. Jeff Hardy beat Abyss in a Monster's Ball match. Abyss came out to a lot of boos and "you suck" chants. He walked around the outside of the ring and got in the face of a few fans. And finally the music of Jeff Hardy hit. The place went nuts! He came out like a rock star running around slapping hands and getting in crowds of people. It is a shame the pounds Hardy has packed on though, but the females didn't seem to care.

This was your usual hardcore type match. Chairs, trashcans and lids were used. Abyss hit hardy with a big chokeslam but that couldn't put Hardy away. Jeff got some offense in on the big monster and looked like he went for a Whisper in the Wind, but slipped on the rope and decided to change his mind. Whatever he was trying to do looked silly because he didn't go through with it. Abyss brought out the thumbtacks and spilled them on the mat. Jeff hit Abyss with a Twist of Fate and then a Swanton on top of the tacks for the win. Jeff celebrated with the fans and gave away some of the things he was wearing and handed out weapons that were used in the match to the fans and signed them.

At the end of the night you could get a picture with Jeff Hardy in front of the ring for 20 bucks. The whole locker room came out and signed autographs and took pictures except Styles and Samoa Joe which was a bummer because alot of people were asking to me AJ. Everyone was cool at the end of the night at ringside and very fan friendly. For whatever reason Shannon Moore wouldn't acknowledge anybody talking to him and just signed stuff.

I have always got behind him, but for some reason tonight when people told him "good match, Shannon" or "thanks for coming out" he wouldn't acknowledge them. Jesse Neal was by far the nicest and most appreciative guy. Jeff Jarrett also signed stuff with Velvet Sky at the merch booth. The TNA black coat security were very pushy with fans trying to get everybody out and yanked stuff out of fans hands and gave them to the wrestlers to be signed to get everyone to hurry up.

The whole experience though was the best wrestling event I have ever been to. I hated life when I got there because of the rain and how everything seemed like it wasn't organized very well for the meet and greet. I highly recommend the 50 dollar meet and greet tickets if you get the chance. I'm sure there is a lot more that happened that I left out but I am so overwhelmed with how awesome the show was my mind is blank.
