7/23 TNA in Bloomington, Ill.: Jeff Hardy suffers a hand injury during the main event Monster's Ball match with Abyss, Mr. Anderson vs. Desmond Wolfe, A.J. Styles vs. Rob Terry for the Global Championshp
Jul 24, 2010 - 03:38 PM

TNA house show
Bloomington, Ill.
Report by Dot Net reader and first time TNA show attendee Andrew Quick

1. AJ Styles defeated "The Freak" Rob Terry to retain the Global Championship. A good match. Terry dominated the whole time until A.J. rolled him up and held his tights for the win.

Earl Hebner came out and people chanted "You Screwed Bret." He ripped off his ref shirt and had a "Damn Right I Did" Hebner ref shirt underneath (which was being sold for $10 and an autograph and picture with Earl).

2. Madison Rayne defeated Taylor Wilde to retain the TNA Knockouts Title. During the match, Hebner ran into Rayne and ended up making out with her. Out of nowhere, Rayne hit a half-assed RKO finisher for the pin.

3. Mr. Anderson beat Desmond Wolfe. A good back and forth match. Before the match, Anderson had Jeremy Borash come inside the ring and hand him the mic from above, which was pretty funny. He said his uncle was in the third row, not sure if it was a joke or not. Anderson won with the mic check.

4. Jeff Jarrett defeated Kevin Nash. Slow match. Nash is showing his age big time.. Kinda weird as they messed up in the corner during a move. Nash kind of just fell and Jarrett hit his finisher out of no where for the win. Didn't seem like an injury, but couldn't tell for sure.

Intermission started, and JB had some local Military Men come to the ring to be sworn in. It was a cool moment. Don West then started advertising the Hebner shirt, and two signed photos of RVD and Jeff Hardy for $20. Madison Rayne was at a table and was signing the programs for free. The line was extremely long, wasn't worth even waiting.

5. Beer Money defeated Ink Inc. Easily the best match of the night. These guys can both work. Beer Money kept doing homoerotic stuff in the corner like hugging and slapping asses and etc. It was funny. Storm even drank out of a fan's cup during the match. Storm won by spitting beer in the face of an opponent and Beer Money did their double finisher.

6. Jeff Hardy beat Abyss in a Monster's Ball match. Lots of good action, trash cans, lids, chairs, and then tacks were all used. At some point, Hardy cut his hand really bad somehow, and was noticeably bleeding throughout the match. Hardy got beat up the whole time, then slammed Abyss onto tacks and hit a Swanton for the win.

The Swanton almost ended badly, as Jeff didn't flip far enough and landed on the tacks himself. After the match JB and a few backstage members came in and wrapped up Hardy's hand. JB was personally asking Hardy if he was sure he was okay, not as if it was planned.

Notes: Overall it was well worth the money. We paid $23 a ticket at the door and had third row in the lower bowl. The ticket counter said approximately 800 to 900 tickets were sold. The floor was 85 percent full, and if you put all the lower bowl people together you maybe would fill the first two rows. Also, this was a half house show at the US Cellular Coliseum that holds 7,000 to 8,000 completely full.

Afterward, for $20 you could get in the ring with Hardy for a picture. Wolfe, Terry, Wilde, Beer Money, Hebner, and JB all went around signing anything for free, and taking pictures. TNA really takes care of their fans. They gave out backstage passes all night, etc. Terry is an absolute monster up close, and said after signing my ticket that it was worth a billion dollars. Quite funny. I would definitely go again, they just need to advertise more in my opinion. People seemed to be very happy with the show.
