TNA in Florence, South Carolina at the Florence Civic Center
Report by Dot Net reader Shawn Cavender
The Civic Center can hold almost 10,000 people, and TNA drew maybe 1,000 for this show, many of them kids. The crowd was very vocal, and Jeremy Borash did a fine job, as always, of revving up the crowd throughout the show with promises of backstage passes for the loudest fans.
1. TNA X-Division champion Suicide defeated Kiyoshi to retain the X-Division Title. Pretty basic stuff, with very little high-flying. Suicide won with the Suicide Solution.
2. Madison Rayne beat Daffney. J.B. announced Daffney as hailing from South Carolina, so she was the babyface here. This was a pretty solid ladies match, which Rayne won with a leverage pin, aided by putting her feet on the ropes.
3. Rhino defeated Sheik Abdul Bashir with a Gore. Before the match, Bashir got on the mic to cut a foreign language promo, then Rhino said he’d kick Bashir’s butt.
4. "The King of the Mountain" Jeff Jarrett and Daniels defeated Beer Money, Inc (Robert Roode & "The Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm). Beer Money got a mixed fan reaction – there were quite a few Beer Money supporters in the crowd. Pre-match, Beer Money insulted the city of Florence and the dental hygiene of the fans. During the match, Roode and Storm ended up in the 69 position. Jarrett got the pin after The Stroke. Post-match, Jarrett got a mic and thanked the TNA fans for their support.
After an intermission, Borash brought a cameraman into the ring to get a shot of the crowd for TNA Today at tnawrestling.com.
5. "Showtime" Eric Young beat Kip James. Cute Kip threatened to walk out on the match after receiving an unpleasant welcome from the fans, but the ref threatened to suspend him if he didn’t return to ring before the 10 count. Young won after a Death Valley Driver.
6. "Phenomenal" A.J. Styles defeated Booker T to retain his Legends Title. Easily the best match of the night, but nothing special. Styles won with a Pele kick after Booker missed the scissors kick. After the match, Styles told the departing Booker that at Sacrifice their match wouldn’t end with a 1-2-3, instead Booker would be saying "I quit."
After the main event, Styles and Suicide took pictures with fans in the ring for $20 (and there were a lot of people interested), while Daniels, Eric Young, Madison Rayne, and referee Rudy Charles walked around ringside signing autographs.
Biggest babyface pops:
1. Jeff Jarrett
2. A.J. Styles
3. Suicide
Most heel heat:
1. Sheik Abdul Bashir
2. Kip James
3. Booker T
