10/16 Twilling's TNA Impact Live Coverage: Mick Foley "says goodbye" to TNA, Sting is the new TNA Champion, Booker T vs. Hernandez
Oct 16, 2008 - 10:01 PM

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, FL

[Q1] Footage aired of what went down at Bound for Glory. Jeff Jarrett cut a post match interview saying his appearance with "one and done." Tonight's show is entitled, "Foley's Farewell."...

The opening video aired and fireworks lit up the Impact Zone. Mike Tenay and Don West welcomed us to the show while running down tonight's card...

1. The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Sonjay Dutt (with SoCal Val) and Sheik Abdul Bashir in 3:12. Dutt and Sabin exchanged a very impressive counter display but the announcers talked about other things. The finish came after Sabin hit a hurricarana and Shelley hit a frog splash on Dutt for the win...

After the match, Kurt Angle's music hit and he came out to the ring. He easily took out both Sabin and Shelley. Angle grabbed the mic and said Jarrett won the battle but not the war. Angle called Jarrett "a candy ass hick from Nashville." He said he would take out all of the TNA talent until he had a shot at Jarrett again. He said the bloodshed would be on Jarrett's hands...

Twill's Two Cents: The action was good enough but even though the Guns finally won a match, it was quickly forgotten after being bitch slapped by Angle.

JB interviewed Kevin Nash backstage. Nash said his appearance on Sunday was not a surprise because someone paid for his plane ticket. Nice. He said Joe had it coming because he disrespected Nash and Scott Hall ten months ago. Nash said he is all about his friends, but he comes first. Now; things are about Kevin Nash. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer; Kevin Nash for life."...

Twill's Two Cents: Any Godfather reference is cool with me. Great promo by Nash.

[Q2] Footage aired of Sting defeating Samoa Joe at Bound for Glory this past Sunday with the help of Kevin Nash. Don West gave away Nash's intentions just like Bobby Heenan did when Hulk Hogan joined the nWo...

Sting came out to the ring with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Sting said he was the new champion but Joe should be the champion. Sting called Joe the better wrestler at Bound for Glory and currently. Sting admitted that Joe could have pinned him after ten minutes, but Joe chose to humiliate and mock Sting and his generation.

Sting played the respect card. He said he always took the 1-2-3 with Ric Flair. Sting said a group of guys shook his hand and a group of guys did not. He called out AJ Styles as someone who did not shake his hand. Styles came out to the ring.

Styles said he was friends with Samoa Joe. He said he was on the road making money while Sting sat at home and spent it. He called his wife a single mother because he was always on the road. Sting told AJ he remembers him telling Sting he did not like his dad. He said he would end up like his dad. Styles slapped Sting. Sting said he would let it go due to their history. "Don't," said Styles. He slapped Sting with the left hand. They brawled but Tenay sent us backstage...

Kurt Angle was beating up Curry Man and Shark Boy. Eric Young approached the scene and took a beating too. Security separated them as the show went to commercial...

Twill's Two Cents: Why did TNA have to blow a great segment but cutting backstage to Angle? They could have saved that for later. Sting and Styles, two guys who I have called out on their poor promo skills, were fantastic in this segment. Great stuff by both of them and I am looking forward to this feud very much.

[Q3] JB interviewed Booker and Sharmell in his sweet ass locker room. Booker kept his African accent and talked about hunting elephant with his bare hands in his country. JB was into what Booker was saying. Booker repeatedly called Hernandez, "Gonzalez." Sharmell said they would reveal what was in the briefcase next week in Las Vegas...

2. Booker T (with Sharmell) defeated Hernandez (with Homicide) in 5:07. Booker gained and kept control early in the match. Hernandez scored a nearfall with a series of closelines. Sharmell distracted the referee. Booker used the distraction to hit Hernandez with the briefcase and hit the axe kick for the win... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: That could have been so much better but instead, it was predictable and disappointing.

[Q4] Backstage, Kurt Angle was beating the shit out of Jimmy Rave. Lance Rock tried to intervene but he was beaten down too. Kurt considered beating up Christy Hemme but thought otherwise...

Lauren interviewed Roxxi backstage. Roxxi cussed and Lauren told her that despite this being her first interview, Spike TV would not allow her to use such language. Roxxi said screw Kong and screw Spike. She then apologized to Spike facetiously... [C]

Lauren followed Christy Hemme as she said she was going to the hospital to see her boys. She was intercepted by The Beautiful People. They basically held her hostage. They teased and attacked her...

Kurt Angle came out to the ring and beat the shit out of David Penzer. Security tried to stop Angle but Jeff Jarrett's music hit. Jarrett came out and told Angle he had done enough. Angle said he wanted his rematch and that it was bullshit that Jarrett beat him. Jarrett told Angle to let it go.

Angle reminded Jarrett of a time he went to Jarrett's house with Karen and his kids, along with Jarrett's kids and had lunch. "I know where you live Jeff; how about Uncle Kurt paying your kids another visit?" Jarrett went after Angle but was not able to get to him...

Twill's Two Cents: Ugh; I liked what both of them did once they met up, but Angle beating everyone up is predictable and hardly entertaining.

Mick Foley, in a Cactus Jack shirt, made his way through the backstage area... [C]

[Q5] Mick Foley came out to the ring and Tenay made reference to his shirt and that would be featured on an upcoming episode of 30 Rock...

Foley jokingly called himself a junkie, a roller coaster junkie. Haha. Foley said he had less fun and was more stressed this past summer than he was in the past 23 years. He thanked the fans and supposedly said goodbye to TNA. Some wrestlers and fans, including Styles and Jarrett, met Foley as he left. Jarrett asked Foley for ten minutes in his office and Foley agreed... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: There is an obvious joke here and I'll leave it to Jason to run with it.

Jim Cornette, from Las Vegas, said he was instructed not to arrest Kurt Angle at this time. He made Angle vs. Matt Morgan for tonight's show...

Twill's Two Cents: Oh joy.

3. Roxxi defeated Raisha Saeed (with Awesome Kong) in 3:43. Saeed grounded Roxxi early with a series of impressive moves, including usage of the surfboard.

[Q6] Raisha missed a missile dropkick and Roxxi took over. Roxxi went after Kong and they traded the advantage on each other. Roxxi hit the Voodoo Drop for the win...

Kong attacked Roxxi after the match and hit her with the Implant Buster...

Lauren interviewed Matt Morgan backstage. Morgan said he was a main event waiting to happen, but he was more concerned with "Chris Parks." He called Abyss his best friend and blamed only himself for the predicament he was in. He called Angle being in the wrong place at the wrong time, "a seven foot understatement."... [C]

Christy Hemme cut a psycho promo on Velvet Sky and Angelina Love. She said she would be PMSing next week and would make sure they do not walk out of Las Vegas...

Tenay and West plugged the card for Impact next week. There were a series of matches but Taylor Wilde vs. Awesome Kong for the Knockout Title and Samoa Joe and AJ Styles vs. Kevin Nash and Sting were the highlights...

Consequences Creed cut a promo on Kevin Nash but it turned into an advertisement for the below average TNA Impact video game... [C]

A promo aired for Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Holy shit this is going to be good...

[Q7] 4. Kevin Nash defeated Consequences Creed in 2:11. Nash overpowered Creed early on but Creed dropkicked Nash in the knee to gain to advantage. Nash hit the Jack Knife powerbomb for the win...

Nash cut a promo on the "new generation of guys around here." He called them arrogant or "some of the most stupid sons of bitches I have ever met." Nash said Joe ran his mouth about Scott Hall ten months ago and should have seen it coming. Nash said the only people "stupider" than the young guys were the fans in the Impact Zone still cheering for him.

Nash told stories of stupid giants, such as Goliath and the giant in "Jack and the Beanstalk." Nash called himself the smartest man in the history of the business. He called the men that brought their wives stupid because all of the ladies would love to know what it was like to spend the night with him. Nash channeled his nWo days and said he was the best thing going...

Twill's Two Cents: The fans did not really buy into the promo but I thought it was pretty well done. It was also well done ten years ago, but it was well done nonetheless.

JB approached the end of the meeting between Foley and Jarrett. Foley repeated, "I need to take a Kurt and wipe my Angle." JB tried to figure out what they had decided and he did not care what Foley needed to wipe... [C]

A "Cross the Line" TNA video aired hyping the HD debut of Impact next week. This is something they should be promoting more. If this was WWE, we would be complaining that they promoted it too often...

Lauren interviewed Team 3D backstage and accused them of assault on Chris Parks. Ray called Team 3D the most violent team of all time and said Parks got what he deserved. They plugged the four team rematch for next week on Impact. The fans get to choose the order of when the teams will enter the match...

[Q8] 5. Kurt Angle defeated Matt Morgan in 10:31. Morgan hit an impressive fallaway slam and followed with a leg drop across the chest of Angle while Angle lied on the ring apron... [C]

Morgan hit a high crossbody for a two count just as the show was coming back from commercial. Angle lured Morgan outside of the ring and upon reentering the ring, he was able to begin working on Morgan's leg. A "Let's go Angle, let's go Morgan" chant broke out.

Morgan hit a series of moves followed by a side suplex for a two count. Morgan hit a bicycle kick for a very nearfall. Angle locked in the ankle lock but Morgan quickly countered. He hit a move that the announcers incorrectly called the Hellevator for a two count. He went for the actual Hellevator but Angle countered with the Olympic Slam for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Surprisingly good match. Morgan was better than I expected and Angle was great as always.

After the match, Angle applied a modified ankle lock on Morgan. Abyss made his way out to the ring. Angle relented and left the ring. Abyss approached Morgan but Angle attacked Abyss. Angle ripped off Abyss' shirt and applied the ankle lock. Tenay abruptly sent it back to JB.

Borash chased after the vehicle of Jarrett and Foley. Jarrett said he and Foley were talking about politics and the bailout. Foley said he was on his way to Vegas and that his leaving TNA was old news. He said he would make a declaration that would shake the foundation of the wrestling world. He said whatever happens in Vegas would be shared with the rest of the world...

Twill's Two Cents: Did anyone else think Abyss was going to attack Morgan? As for Foley, his announcement should not rock the foundation of anything, but at least they will move forward with him on board. Hopefully Angle gets a piece of both Jarrett and Foley.
