TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, FL
[Q1] Footage aired of what happened between Samoa Joe and Booker T last week. After the opening video aired, Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash entered the ring from the crowd. The ring was surrounded by the six sides of steel…
Samoa Joe said he wanted his match vs. Booker T at Hard Justice to be a steel cage match. Booker T came out to the stage with Sharmell and the TNA Heavyweight Championship. He told Joe he wanted some tables and ladders added to the mix and that he would have a contract for Joe to sign later in the show. He told Joe to be afraid of the dark.
Backstage, Christian Cage, A.J. Styles, and Rhino talked about their match tonight. Styles continued to be confused with why Sting turned on Samoa Joe. He said he trusted Sting. Rhino told him not to be sucked in… [C]
Twill’s Two Cents: I am having some computer trouble. Good segment with Booker and Joe. I like the change to the PPV title match.
[Q2] 1. Consequences Creed defeated Eric Young, Johnny Devine, and Jimmy Rave (with Lance Rock) in 4:09. I was not able to watch the match closely but it looked like a typical, athletic display between the four before Creed picked up the win. After the match, Rock and Rave attacked Creed. Abyss came down and laid everyone out. He picked up a chair, threw it down, and was unsure of his own mindset…
Backstage, Jeremy Borash interviewed Team 3D and Kurt Angle while lying on a table. Ray said there is no Santa Claus. O.J. is innocent, and Sting will be in their corner tonight. Devon and Kurt talked about Sting a little more. Kurt said he would picture Styles in bed with his wife and that was real, damn real… [C]
Twill’s Two Cents: Nice to see Creed get the win after his match with Booker last week. Sure, O.J. is innocent like Velvet Sky is hanging out with me tonight after the show.
A very good career retrospective video of Kaz was shown. His ability to reach big match status, only to lose, was the overwhelming theme of the video…
[Q3] Karen Angle’s new show is a pretaped studio interview show. Karen asked Kaz how he broke into the business. He talked about his friendship with Killer Kowalski and called Bret Hart his favorite wrestler.
Karen referred to Kaz leaving TNA for WWE in 2005, although WWE was never mentioned by name. There was sappy music playing as he spoke. The segment ended with “to be continued” at the bottom of the screen. Tenay said part two of the interview would take place next week…
Tenay and West ran down the card for the rest of the show. Taylor Wilde was shown stretching in preparation for her match… [C]
Twill’s Two Cents: I was expecting an in ring show with Karen, which I think would have been better. This was just another boring interview premise, although I was intrigued with what Kaz had to say. TNA needed to show this side of Kaz years ago. By the way, wasn’t Tomko supposed to spoil the show? I guess that will happen next week.
2. Matt Morgan defeated Korey Chavis in 2:29. The beat of Morgan’s song sounds exactly like “Click Click Boom.” Chavis should not be confused with the NFL strong safety. Tenay plugged Morgan’s debut on American Gladiators. Morgan dominated the match and hit his finisher, now called “The Hellevator,” for the win…
Backstage, Lauren interviewed The Motor City Machine Guns. Although both of their voices were monotone, they delivered a fantastic promo. Sabin called Beer Money a chubby cowboy and stock market prick with a ponytail. Shelley asked if Roode made his money investing in Soul Glo. He put over the city of Detroit and really hammered home who he and his partner were, in addition to what they represent.
Twill’s Two Cents: I like the name of Morgan’s new move. I loved the promo from the Guns. Just like they did with Kaz a little while ago, the Guns are more than just spectacular in the ring now. That is how you connect talent to the audience.
Backstage, Angelina Love applied makeup to Velvet Sky but Sky looked more concerned with her match tonight… [C]
[Q4] Lauren interviewed Curry Man, Shark Boy, and Super Eric. They tried to come up with a catchphrase. Shark Boy suggested “Give me a shell yeah.” They settled on “We come in peace; they leave in pieces.”…
Twill’s Two Cents: Shit. Looks like Christopher Daniels will not be “returning” anytime soon.
Beer Money and The Motor City Machine Guns made their entrances for the tag team strap match… [C]
3. Beer Money (with Jacqueline) defeated The Motor City Machine Guns in a strap match in 7:48. They put over the usage of straps as strengths of Beer Money? Strength? This is not tables and Team 3D. Anyone can swing a strap or belt. They were connected in pairs; Shelley to Storm and Sabin to Roode.
Shelley tied Storm around the ringpost and whipped him. The Guns were able to use the straps to perform some innovative double team moves. Shelley went to the top rope but was pushed down by Jacqueline. The distraction allowed Roode to hit a spinebuster on Sabin. Roode attacked Sabin on the floor as Storm had the in ring advantage on Shelley.
Roode hit an impressive standing dropkick on Shelley, allowing Storm to score a nearfall. Sabin and Shelley hit closelines on each opposite opponent. They irish whipped Beer Money into each other, tied them up, and hit simultaneous kicks. They performed a double rowboat. Jacqueline interfered and fell into the middle of the rowboat.
[Q5] The referee was taken out. Roode hit the Backstabber. Jacqueline handed handcuffs to Storm, who knocked out Sabin, allowing Roode to score the victory. They tied Shelley to the corner and whipped him repeatedly. LAX came out to make the save. Beer Money made belt gestures around their waists. LAX…
Twill’s Two Cents: Entertaining match. The Guns were very creative with their moves. Beer Money was able to get some heat back. The Guns may have to wait before they get a title program, or they could do a three way.
Tenay plugged the title match between Taylor Wilde and the beautiful Velvet Sky… [C]
Ike Taylor and James Farrior of the Pittsburgh Steelers were shown in the crowd. Ike, feel free to actually cover someone this season and earn the money in your contract…
4. Taylor Wilde defeated Velvet Sky (with Angelina Love) to retain the TNA Knockout Title in :05. Taylor surprised Sky with a schoolboy for the win…
Sky grabbed the microphone and said she was not ready. She challenged Wilde again. She accepted…
5. Taylor Wilde defeated Velvet Sky (with Angelina Love) to retain the TNA Knockout Title in :21. Wilde scored another quick victory…
Angelina Love asked Taylor who she was dating to get so much special treatment. She offered Wilde $5,000 if she could beat Sky again…
6. Taylor Wilde defeated Velvet Sky (with Angelina Love) by disqualification to retain the TNA Knockout Title in 4:23. After an attack by Love, Sky applied an Octopus. She was rolled up for another nearfall but kicked out. They laid each other out with simultaneous “hair pull faceplants.”
[Q6] Taylor hit a nice monkey flip. She hit a Northern Lights suplex with a bridge but Angelina Love broke up the pinfall. After attacking Wilde for awhile, The Beautiful People were attacked by ODB and Gail Kim. ODB ate a turkey leg during the attack…
Twill’s Two Cents: The Steelers are my team and Taylor was terrible last year. He is good though so hopefully he turns it around. I enjoyed the matches and the overall segment. It furthered a multitude of feuds. I wish Kong would have hit the ring and destroyed Wilde. She is more annoying than courageous to me.
Sheik Abdul Bashir, formerly known as Daivari, gave the same anti-America promo that he and Muhammad Hassan gave when they entered WWE. It sucked then and it does now… [C]
JB was with TNA resident dumbass SoCal Val and Sonjay Dutt in Dutt’s hospital room. Val said she did not watch the replay of last week because she hates violence. Sonjay said he was in a coma for three days and was thinking of Val the entire time. Before I could ask in the “Two Cents” portion of this report, JB asked Val how Sonjay could be thinking while in a coma. The doctor brought Sonjay a bedpan. Val left. Sonjay pulled an engagement ring out of the pan and smelled it…
Team 3D, Kurt Angle, Rhino, Christian Cage, and A.J. Styles made their ring entrances for the tables match… [C]
[Q7] 7. Kurt Angle eliminated A.J. Styles to win a five table elimination match that also included Team 3D, Christian Cage, and Rhino in 15:01. Cage and Angle traded knife edge chops in the ring as the other four men fought on the floor. Cage and Angle exited the ring. Ray and Styles took their turn.
Devon choked Rhino with a television cable. Cage and Styles double teamed Angle in the ring. Ray set up a table and back dropped Styles, but Rhino moved the table so Styles would not be eliminated. The first elimination took place when Cage and Rhino threw Devon from the middle rope through a table in the middle of the ring.
Cage grabbed a garbage can and hit Ray over the head with it. Rhino followed that up with a gore. Ray rolled out of the ring. Angle hit the ring and laid out the entire face team with chairshots… [C]
Rhino was eliminated during the break. He tried to gore Angle through a table but Ray pulled Angle out of the way, causing Rhino to crash through the table himself. Cage set up Angle on a table and went to the top rope. Angle distracted the referee and the eliminated Brother Devon assisted Brother Ray in hitting a 3D on Cage through the table.
Styles laid out Ray and Angle. He went to the floor to get a table. Some fan cupped his hands to his mouth and yelled, “Put him in a body bag A.J.!!!” It was as if the entire arena went silent because the fan could be heard pretty clearly.
[Q8] Johnny Devine came to the ring and tried to throw powder in Styles’ eyes, but he hit Ray instead. Ray accidentally powerbombed Devine through a table and went to the floor. Styles put Ray through a table on the floor.
He then set up Angle and went to the top rope. Frank Trigg hit the scene and hit Styles in the back with a Kendo Stick. Angle hit the Olympic Slam on Styles through a table for the win. Trigg and Angle celebrated after the match…
Twill’s Two Cents: The match went fifteen minutes and it felted rushed to me. It could have gone twice as long. The guys worked hard though and gave the fans something to see. Good match. No sign or mention of Sting though.
Booker T walked through a dark hallway in the back, presumably on his way to the ring… [C]
Booker T and Sharmell came out to the ring. Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash followed suit. “I see I have my wife here with me and you have your…” Booker said before stopping because Nash looked a hole through him. Booker told Joe to get rid of his punkass friend Kevin Nash. Joe agreed if Sharmell hit the bricks too.
Booker kissed Sharmell. He told Joe he could do the same if he wanted, referring to Joe giving Nash a kiss. Joe said, “I would, but I heard your wife was not a good kisser.” Nash nodded in agreement. Funny line. Booker signed the contract and asked Joe to do the same. The lights went out and Sting’s music hit. The lights came back on, Joe was laid out, and Booker was holding Sting’s baseball bat…
Twill’s Two Cents: The spotlight has been off of Nash for the past couple of weeks, so I smell a swerve. I could see Nash turning on Joe and Sting leaving the company for a few months before his umpteenth return.
