Dec 9, 2010 - 10:00 PM

By Rich Twilling

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, Florida

[Q1] Footage aired of Jeff Hardy defeating Matt Morgan after Mr. Anderson was taken out at Final Resolution. Tonight's show is entitled, "Immortal Ups the Ante." ...

Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair spoke with the members of Immortal. He was freaking out about Dixie Carter taking back what they worked so hard to get. He said they needed all of the belts and all of the power. He pointed out A.J. Styles and said there would be no more losers in the faction.

Rhino came in and asked Bischoff about his contract. He said he had a family to feed. Bischoff wrote the word, "No" on a piece of paper and showed it to Rhino. Rhino blew a gasket and went after Bischoff, but Immortal beat him up and got rid of him...

Immortal made their way out to the ring. Hulk Hogan and Jeff Hardy were not with them. Bischoff gave a special introduction to Jeff Hardy, who made his way out to the ring. Bischoff put Hardy over as a great champion, but also said Matt Morgan was a great challenger. He invited Morgan out to the ring.

Morgan's music hit and he came out to the ring and entered it with a pipe in his hand. Bischoff gave Morgan his word nothing would go wrong for Morgan tonight. He said going forward, TNA was about fair play. He said Morgan could have beaten Hardy and he didn't because he had a horse shit referee.

If Ken Anderson was not the referee, Bischoff said the outcome could have been different. Bischoff booked Morgan vs. Anderson with the winner facing Jeff Hardy. Morgan said he spoke with Anderson and said Anderson was not cleared to wrestle. He said it wasn't happening.

Bischoff said Anderson was capable of wrestling and he would, or he would be out of TNA. "He's damaged goods at that point. Take it or leave it. I don't want to hear another word. The match will be made. Hit my music." Immortal showed a sign of unity in the ring as Morgan took off.

Anderson was shown watching a monitor backstage...

Twill's Two Cents: Good opening segment as Bischoff does the fake empathy very well. Morgan vs. Anderson is a solid match but it also shows how few top heels TNA has right now.

Mike Tenay hyped a Tara concert. Taz promoted an open MMA challenge from Jeff Jarrett. Abyss will challenge Douglas Williams for the TNA TV Title tonight...

Backstage, Brother Ray said he was the heart of Team 3D. He turned to a black guy that was not Brother Devon, called him Brother Devon, and told him to come with him... [C]

1. Ink Inc. defeated Team 3D (Brother Ray and a fake Brother Devon) in 4:40. The fake Devon did all of Devon's spots as Ray screamed instructions at him. They even set up a table, but Ink Inc. scored the win after hitting their finisher.

Afterward, Ray put the fake Devon through the table and the real Devon came out to run Ray off. Ray headed up the ramp and hid behind So Cal Val...

Twill's Two Cents: As a mid-card act, the fake Devon thing actually could be some fun if they established it a little bit, but it's looks like it will be a short-lived act.

Backstage, Tara was getting ready for her performance as she spoke with Generation Me... [C]

Tara came out to sing her theme music. Generation Me danced like dorks behind her. Mickie James attacked Tara from behind. They brawled and had to be pulled apart. Mickie grabbed a mic and said they hated each other. The only way to end this was to have a steel cage match, and she wanted to do it tonight. They brawled a little more...

Twill's Two Cents: If two women in TNA are going to have a steel cage match, they picked the right two. I'm sure they'll have a very physical match.

Backstage, Beer Money told Gunner and Murphy to rough up the Motor City Machine Gun. The announcers hyped the match... [C]

Jeff Jarrett talked about his open MMA challenge and that he was going to offer $100,000 of his own money...

2. The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Gunner and Murphy in a non-title match in 3:42. Beer Money joined the announce team. The Guns were distracted by their entrance and it allowed Gunner and Murphy to take the early advantage. Shelley took a beat down for awhile, but came back.

The Guns were about to hit their finisher, but the nightstick was brought into play and the referee called for a disqualification. The Guns grabbed ahold of the nightsticks and beat the crap out of Gunner and Murphy...

Twill's Two Cents: Nice to see a little build to the Guns vs. Beer Money feud, as I hope they have a very long program over the belts.

Backstage, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky discussed winning the TNA Knockout Tag Team Titles. Winter then came in and wished Angelina luck. Velvet asked who she was and Angelina was relieved someone else could see her...

Sarita and Daffney were shown walking backstage... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: It was mentioned earlier that Hamada had "VISA issues" and that she and Taylor Wilde were stripped of the tag titles, thus the tournament tonight for those now vacant belts.

Matt Morgan approached Mr. Anderson backstage and asked him what he was going to do tonight. Anderson said he was going to wrestle. They argued about it as Morgan was pissed that Anderson was wrestling so soon after a concussion. Anderson said he didn't have a choice.

Anderson thanked Morgan again and she was appreciative of what he did. They argued and started to raise their voices. Anderson said he had a guy that was going to clear him to wrestle tonight. Morgan said Anderson was going to get hurt and walked away stunned at Anderson's attitude...

Twill's Two Cents: I suppose they had to create some tension between the two and using the hot button issue in TNA over the past couple of months was a good way to do it.

After The Beautiful People made their entrance, Sarita cut a promo on Velvet, saying every time she was in a tough spot, she ran back to Angelina. She continued to berate her and Velvet attacked her...

3. The Beautiful People (Velvet Sky and Angelina Love) defeated Sarita and Daffney in a Knockouts Tag Team Championship tournament match in 3:22. Velvet had a submission locked in and Daffney broke it up. Sarita slapped her around a bit. Daffney tagged in and the crowd chanted her name.

Velvet and Sarita went back and forth a little bit before Angelina made a tag. She hit Daffney with a few moves and knocked Sarita off of the apron. She then hit her finisher on Daffney for the win...

Afterward, Sarita grabbed the mic and said she would never be beaten by Velvet. She called Velvet a loser...

Twill's Two Cents: Well Sarita, you just lost. Yes, Angelina did all of the work and a storyline is brewing, but still. By the way, how many active Knockouts are there now? Madison Rayne, Tara, Angelina Love, Sarita, Daffney, Winter, and Velvet Sky. Is that it? Do they need three title belts for seven women?

A group of men rolled a casket backstage... [C]

A Tara vs. Mickie James video package aired. Tara called herself a bully. They showed footage of their Falls Count Anywhere match at Final Resolution. They hyped it as the main event...

Footage aired of Abyss defeating The Pope at Final Resolution...

The Undertaker rolled a casket down to the ring. Wait, no, it wasn't him. It was a bunch of regular guys. They opened the casket. The "Movin' On Up" Band danced around the casket, singing "This Little Light of Mine."

The Pope could be heard on the mic but not seen. He said a bunch of religious stuff. He then said he would reach heights never before seen. He asked for donations to help the less fortunate. "With Pope, there is hope." Cute...

Twill's Two Cents: So, Pope loses to Abyss and now he is asking for donations and saying he will reach higher levels? Is he actually trying to be The Undertaker in TNA?

Backstage, A.J. Styles screamed at Abyss to get the TV Title back for Immortal. Abyss said he would handle his business... [C]

Mickie James was backstage in a Reaction style interview, saying she was in TNA to make history. Tara has been a thorn in her side since she arrived and they would both find out what it is like to be in a steel cage match...

4. Douglas Williams defeated Abyss to retain the TNA Television Championship in 3:15. Williams worked on the head and neck early on with strikes and knees, but Abyss turned the tides with a big boot. Abyss missed an ass splash. Williams tried Rolling Chaos, but Abyss pulled off the turnbuckle pad. Abyss ran face first into it and was rolled up for the win...

Styles attacked Williams on the ramp and hit the Styles Clash. He got down in Williams' face and talked shit to him. Williams writhed in pain...

Twill's Two Cents: Williams can work with anybody. I hope this push for him leads to more of a focus on others in TNA with superior in-ring talent.

Jeff Jarrett was shown walking backstage preparing for his open MMA challenge... [C]

JB took Eric Young to the tallest building in the world in Dubai. Young acted like he was a little kid. He said they needed to move there...

Tara told G-Me she was going to give Mickie James the beating of her life. The Bucks challenged Eric Young and Orlando Jordan to a match next week...

Jeff Jarrett came out and cut a promo. The crowd chanted, "You sold out!" They are late with that chant. Jarrett called himself the most dangerous fighter in the world and said he made Joe tap out. He threw out an open challenge to anyone in the live crowd to make him tap out. If so, Jarrett will give them $100,000...

Twill's Two Cents: I wish this was legit and I was there because I could use 100K.

Jarrett turned down a few wrestling plants and chose Mike Cruz. JB made sure Cruz knew what he was getting into. Jarrett slapped him and then had a referee ring the bell...

5. Jeff Jarrett defeated Mike Cruz in a $100,000 MMA challenge in :39. Jarrett beat down Cruz with strikes and then locked in a rear naked choke for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: I'm starting to be mildly amused by this. It could be worse and TNA has made the "open challenge" thing work in the past when Awesome Kong was doing it.

The steel cage was being assembled... [C]

A Rob Van Dam video package aired...

6. Mickie James defeated Tara in a steel cage match in 11:08. They brawled on the floor before the match even started. Mickie threw Tara back into the cage and entered it herself to begin the match... [C]

Tara scored the first nearfall with a swinging sidewalk slam, but Mickie came back with a series of moves. She then hit a dropkick to Tara's face for a two count. The crowd engaged in dueling "Let's go Mickie; let's go Tara" chants. The match was very back and forth.

Mickie climbed the corner and looked like she was trying a headscissors from the top, but Tara was countering it with a powerbomb, but they landed awkwardly. They seemed okay though. Tara whipped Mickie into the cage several times. She tried to get out the door but Mickie stopped her.

Mickie began to do the same, just abusing Tara's body against the cage. Both women climbed the cage in the corner. Mickie climbed to the top of the cage and instead of escaping, she hit a Thesz Press from the top for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Seriously, can we get more main events like this? We don't need overbooked , over thought non-finishes every week. They went out there and had a hell of a match. That finish was wicked and impressive. Tara's arm was injured here and it looked like Mickie's knee or ankle was as well. Nonetheless, very good main event and a great job by Taz selling the match throughout.
