12/2 Twilling's TNA Impact Live Coverage: Matt Morgan chooses his referee for his title match against Jeff Hardy, final hype for Final Resolution, Dixie Carter vs. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff drama
Dec 2, 2010 - 10:00 PM

By Rich Twilling

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, Florida

[Q1] The show began with a Motor City Machine Guns vs. Beer Money vs. Ink Inc. vs. Generation Me in a non-title match. Ric Flair joined Mike Tenay and Taz at ringside...

1. Ink Inc. defeated The Motor City Machine Guns, Beer Money, and Generation Me in a non-title match. Honestly, Flair on commentary was more interesting than the match. The match was fast paced and full of action, but if you blinked, you missed something.

The new referee counted the three for Ink Inc. against Beer Money. After the match, Beer Money threatened to hurt the new referee as Robert Roode said he continued to be a pain in their asses. Flair shouted out instructions from the ramp.

Matt Morgan's music hit and he grabbed Flair. He told Fortune if they continued to bother the referee, he would choke the life out of Flair. He then let Flair go. Flair jumped on the mic and said Morgan was going down tonight...

Twill's Two Cents: Did the show start late for anyone else? That was an odd way to open the show, but I suppose they did so to try and get the attention of people flipping the channels. I like the focus on Beer Money and hope they are in a tag title feud after Sunday's pay-per-view.

Mickie James was backstage and excited about performing her theme music tonight. Eric Young and Orlando Jordan approached and Eric was excited about adding "cowbell" to the performance... [C]

[Q2] Tenay and Taz ran down the card for tonight. Flair will be choosing the opponent for Morgan. Jeff Jarrett and Abyss will face The Pope and Samoa Joe in the main event...

Mickie James performed her theme music, "Hardcore Country" on the stage. "Assless Chaps" Eric Young ran around and added more cowbell. Tara attacked Mickie and Eric. She knocked Young out with the cowbell. They went at it and were pulled around by security...

Twill's Two Cents: I hope they go at it at the pay-per-view and then move onto other programs. The physicality has been solid, but the feud needs to come to an end. Young didn't add as much as I hoped he would when I heard about this before.

Morgan was approached by the rookie referee. He asked Morgan to be the guy to referee the match on Sunday. Morgan said he would consider it, but told the kid to be patient. He said it took him nine years to even get a title shot... [C]

Doug Williams said he was wrestling royalty and said he was going to teach Kazarian a wrestling lesson tonight...

[Q3] 2. Doug Williams defeated Kazarian. Fast paced action early and often. Kazarian scored a nearfall with a swinging neck breaker. He followed with a reverse spin kick and began choking Williams. Nice dropkick by Kazarian for yet another two count...

Twill's Two Cents: Just watching Williams run the ropes is another example of how good he is in the ring.

Williams nearly hit the rolling chaos, but Kazarian countered with a rollup, which Williams countered into a rollup of his own. Williams then tried again and succeeded with Rolling Chaos (rolling German suplex with a bridge) for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Real nice match. Not long enough by any means, but both guys can go, so it was good while it lasted. Nice to see Williams get the clean victory.

Mickie James was backstage looking for Tara... [C]

Morgan approached Williams backstage and it looked like he about to ask him to be the referee on Sunday. A.J. Styles attacked Williams and they were broken up by D'Lo Brown, Al Snow, Terry Taylor, and others. Morgan never asked the question...

The announcers began running down the Final Resolution card, but they were interrupted by Brother Devon, who came out to the ring. He called for Ray to bring his ass out to the ring to settle this, once and for all. "Let's go Bubba. You want to talk, let's talk."

Brother Ray finally appeared and did not want to get into the ring. Devon called Ray a bully and a coward throughout their fifteen year run. Devon said Taz was the person who allowed them to work together in the first place.

[Q4] Ray screamed that Taz was a washed up loser just like Devon was. Taz stood up and said he didn't want to get involved in family business, but his name was brought up. Taz said it was not about him. He said he is washed up, but Devon is not, so Ray should get his ass in the ring.

Devon said Shannon Moore was right and that Ray was a douchebag. Ray elected not to get into the ring. Devon called him a piece of crap. Ray said he was the star and Devon was Marty Jannetty. Devon exited the ring to get Ray, but Ray threw So Cal Val at him as a distraction to run away...

Twill's Two Cents: Nothing groundbreaking about that. Decent work from both guys, but nothing that makes me want to see a singles match between the two, which wasn't even booked at this time. Let's see if the feud plays out well on television.

Madison Rayne vs. Angelina Love vs. Sarita was hyped... [C]

The Pope and Samoa Joe could not agree on working together tonight. Pope called Joe a stupid Samoan. Joe said he hated Pope and everything he stood for. Pope called Joe a pimple on his own ass. They then agreed to see each other out there...

3. Sarita defeated Angelina Love and Madison Rayne in a non-title match in 2:46 Madison rode to the ring with Tara, but Mickie attacked Tara. They fought to the back. Madison hit Sarita with the belt before the match even started, leaving Angelina and Madison to start the match.

[Q5] Referee Earl Hebner may as well had his eyes closed. Madison hit Angelina with the belt, but Sarita snuck in, covered Angelina, and scored the win...

Twill's Two Cents: I like that Sarita is a tweener right now. She adds something to the division, which is clearly focused on Mickie vs. Tara.

Ric Flair was talking backstage to someone unseen. Flair told him to get his business done tonight and after that, Flair would talk to him about his future and his contract... [C]

Angelina was pissed backstage because she lost two matches in a row. Winter sat down next to her and said nothing was wrong with her. She was perfect. She guaranteed they would never lose. Then they made out. No, not really. Winter walked away and took Angelina with her...

Rhino came out to face Morgan, so there is the guy Flair was talking to of course...

4. Matt Morgan defeated Rhino by disqualification in 5:04. They fought to the floor and Rhino rammed Morgan into the steel post. Morgan was opened up on his forehead...

Twill's Two Cents: Rhino did that pretty easily, days before he has a first blood match on pay-per-view. Shouldn't have given that away.

Morgan tasted his own blood and was enraged. Morgan hit several moves and then a sidewalk slam for a nearfall. Rhino fought back and hit a belly to belly suplex. He set up Morgan for the gore but missed. Morgan hit the carbon footprint but Fortune hit the ring before the referee counted to three.

[Q6] Fortune beat down on Morgan. Rob Van Dam's music hit and he took Rhino to the back. However, Fortune continued to beat on Morgan in the ring. Jeff Hardy came out to the ring. Fortune held up Morgan for a chair shot, but Mr. Anderson made his return to make the save...

Twill's Two Cents: What the hell took Anderson so long? Morgan was being beaten forever in there. Morgan looked to be bleeding pretty profusely. Short, but good match between Morgan and Rhino.

Anderson grabbed a mic... [C]

Anderson and Morgan stood in the ring together. Anderson said he was going to do something that he has only done a handful of times in his career. He looked at Morgan. "Thank you. Thank you for having my back." He said there was a code and part of that code was not hitting someone in the back of the head with a chair.

He said he didn't remember what he was doing for the past month. He said he wanted Jeff Hardy to get his. Anderson said he heard Morgan needed somebody to referee his rematch with Jeff Hardy. "Since you helped me out, maybe we can think of somebody." He offered himself up. Morgan agreed.

Anderson said he is impartial, so he should not be seen shaking Morgan's hand. Anderson looked into the camera and said on Sunday, he thinks the "bigger man will win." Anderson took off as Morgan smiled and clapped...

Twill's Two Cents: Nice return for Anderson, but if he ends up turning on Morgan, which I doubt will happen, Morgan will have looked ridiculous by smiling and clapping so much. That is Morgan though, but sometimes he just does too much with his reactions and facial expressions.

[Q7] Mickie and Tara were fighting in the parking lot. Mickie was backdropped into a dumpster... [C]

Jeremy Borash introduced Robbie E and Cookie for a fist pump contest. No, that was not a typo. Jay Lethal came out to challenge him. Both men are from New Jersey, so we are subjected to this crap. Lethal looked pretty pissed. I look about the same. We are about to order a pizza, so I am a little less pissed.

Robbie E cut a promo on Lethal. Cookie screamed a little bit. It's time to fist pump. Robbie tore it up. I haven't judged a fist pumping contest in about three years, but he did a nice job. Lethal said Robbie was a disgrace to New Jersey.

Lethal turned his hat to the side and started to fist pump. He looked like he was auditioning for West Side Story. He then attacked Robbie E and they fought to the back. Cookie got involved and was thrown into a storage cage by Christy Hemme. Robbie beat on Jay with the cage door...

Twill's Two Cents: I will give them credit for building a match that did not involve the main event guys. The segment was silly, but it did its job.

Jeff Jarrett and Abyss vs. The Pope and Samoa Joe was hyped... [C]

[Q8] Jarrett gave Abyss a pep talk backstage. He said they were proving everyone wrong. Abyss said something about killing Pope this Sunday or tonight...

A Final Resolution video package aired...

Abyss and then Jarrett made their entrance. There was a casket at ringside... [C]

The Pope made his entrance and footage was shown of Joe and Pope brawling last week despite being tag team partners...

[Overrun] 5. Abyss and Jeff Jarrett defeated Samoa Joe and D'Angelo Dinero by disqualification in 7:35. Jarrett and Pope opened the match. Pope beat down Jarrett in the corner. Joe offered a tag and Pope slapped him in the head. Abyss tagged in as well.

Joe beat Abyss to the mat and hit a running knee, but Pope tagged himself in in the process. Abyss took advantage of the distraction and gained the advantage before tagging in Jarrett. Jarrett locked in an armbar but Pope got out of it on his own.

Tenay said we are going to stick with the match until the finish regardless of which show it would conclude on...

Twill's Two Cents: Why does Tenay tell us that every week? They stick with the match every single week. I want to see the show where Tenay says, "We are not going to show the end of this match."

TNA Reaction

Joe hit a huge powerslam on Abyss for a nearfall. Joe then ran into a chokeslam, but Pope attacked Abyss, clotheslining him to the floor. Jarrett applied the ankle lock on Pope. Pope spun Jarrett out of the move and the referee was taken out.

Jarrett grabbed his guitar and approached Joe in the ring. He swung the guitar but Joe punched it. Joe picked up the remains of the guitar, the referee saw it, and disqualified Joe. Joe set up the idiot referee for the muscle buster, but Jarrett hit him in the nuts. Jarrett locked in a rear naked choke.

Abyss was getting the best of Pope on the floor. Abyss joined Jarrett in the ring with Joe. They dragged him to the casket but Kurt Angle was in there. Apparently, nobody noticed that before. Angle hit the Angle Slam on Abyss. Jarrett ran off...

Twill's Two Cents: They make referees so freaking stupid. You cannot call something you do not see. Period. Forgettable tag team main event and hopefully people were still tuning in when Angle appeared. So, both Angle and Anderson return on the same night. Where is the buildup or at least the teases? Bad go-home show.
