10/28 Twilling's TNA Impact Live Coverage: Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Jarrett in a chain match (advertised), MCMG vs. Ink Inc. vs. Generation Me, TNA and EV2 continue to try and fight off the Immortals
Oct 28, 2010 - 10:00 PM

By Rich Twilling

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, Florida

[Q1] Tonight's show is entitled, "Chained to Fate." Tara and Mickie James were shown fighting in the backstage area. Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, Sarita, and Angelina Love joined the party. Ric Flair walked out to the ring.

Mickie James slapped Flair in the face. Flair tried to get everyone to stop fighting. Flair made a match involving all six women but they continued to try and get at each other...

The opening video aired. Mike Tenay and Taz welcomed us to the show. They hyped tonight's matches, including Jeff Jarrett vs. Mr. Anderson in the main event...

Twill's Two Cents: We see the pull apart brawl a lot, but that one was pretty intense and physical. Flair cracks me up and his presence here added to the opening segment.

The Pope was shown rolling a casket around... [C]

[Q2] Footage aired of Mr. Anderson taking the chair shot to the back of the head and then the medical attention it required...

Flair and Eric Bischoff exchanged pleasantries in Bischoff's office. The security guards starting laughing and it pissed off both Flair and Bischoff. Eric said Kurt Angle almost killed them last week and it was not funny at all.

The head trainer came in and told Bischoff Mr. Anderson was not able to go tonight because he suffered serious head trauma last week. He said the NFL was cracking down on things like this, but Flair said "it was real now." Bischoff told the trainer Anderson would wrestle if he knew what was good for him...

Twill's Two Cents: I will reserve judgement for the mentioning of head trauma injuries until I see more of it. Tongue in cheek is one thing, but head trauma is a serious issue and it cannot be taken lightly, even on camera of a wrestling show. I do like the dynamic between Flair and Bischoff. Good stuff.

The Pope came to the ring and cut a promo on Abyss. He said he was going to put Abyss in the casket and send him straight back to hell. Abyss showed up in the crowd with a microphone. He said Hogan and Bischoff ordered him to "extinguish" Pope.

Abyss said the congregation was not safe either. "You never know when, you never know where, but I am coming for all of you. One by one." He grabbed a young man and woman and walked away with them...

Twill's Two Cents: One by one, two at a time, who is paying attention? Well, me. If Abyss is coming for all of us, I wonder if it is like the rescue boats on the Titanic, women and children first. By the way, Abyss' look and character are things I could do without, but his mic and ring work are solid.

Jeff Jarrett called Samoa Joe a fat tub of goo and then hyped his chain match for tonight... [C]

[Q3] Matt Morgan approached Flair and questioned why Bischoff would make Anderson wrestle with a concussion tonight. Morgan said he has suffered concussions and studies have been done to help prevent too many injuries.

Flair said whatever Hogan and Flair scheduled for Anderson, Fortune will help see through. He said Fortune was a family and Morgan was a huge part of that family. Morgan reluctantly accepted what Morgan had to say...

Twill's Two Cents: Good segment. I like that Morgan isn't a dick just because he is a heel.

1. Robbie E. (with Cookie) defeated Jay Lethal in a non-title Jersey Shore street fight in 4:56. For some reason, there were a bunch of street signs and road equipment out there. Street fight. Get it? Robbie was on the offensive once the match hit the ring. Lethal intercepted the kendo stick and nailed E with a shot across the back.

Lethal brought a garbage can into the ring and put it over E's head. He then swung for the fences and nailed the can with the kendo stick. He was out. He hit one more shot as well. He went to the top but Cookie sprayed some crap in his face. E hit the Rude Awakening (reverse neck breaker/Stunner) for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Robbie earned a PPV title shot at Lethal's X Division Championship with the win. The crowd is not into his act at all. Lethal vs. Robbie E. That is a long ways from A.J. Styles vs. Kazarian or even Douglas Williams with the belt.

Backstage, Velvet Sky told Angelina Love she wanted a piece of Sarita. She took off and Winter appeared out of nowhere. Winter said a bunch of creepy stuff and then Sky came back. Winter was never really there at all and Angelina was freaking out...

Twill's Two Cents: I love the way Winter (Katie Lea Burchill) has been introduced. She is creepy and it works well for her. Slowly but surely, this division is starting to beef up a bit.

Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Jarrett was hyped as the main event... [C]

[Q4] Footage was shown of Rob Van Dam being paranoid that a member of EV2 was with Fortune, complete with Sabu accidentally hitting him with a chair shot...

EV2 was in the ring and Tommy Dreamer said RVD did not return calls, texts, or tweets. They asked RVD to come to the ring. He obliged. Dreamer said he wanted things to end right now. He said RVD was the one that brought him to TNA. He also said what happened with Sabu was an accident.

RVD said he did not trust anyone because of what Jeff Hardy did to him. Dreamer said EV2 was a family, but Hardy was always strange and is now a scum bag. Raven was wearing a mountie's jacket.

Dreamer told RVD to remember what Bischoff tried to do to ECW. Raven told RVD he was worried about nothing. RVD said Raven was the stooge. Flair's music hit and Fortune came out to the stage. He called EV2 a bunch of dysfunctional punks.

Flair said Raven and RVD better kiss and make up, because they were teaming tonight against A.J. Styles and Kazarian. Douglas Williams kept saying something to Flair and Flair said they would talk backstage...

Twill's Two Cents: Flair's comment about "You guys talking about who trained who..." was right on. We get it. These guys go way back. Flat segment. The less of RVD on the mic, the better. He doesn't pull off "mad" very well. I like it better when he says less and just goes out there and fights.

The Knockouts match was hyped and will take place on the other side of the break... [C]

Backstage, Fortune argued with Williams. Williams made a crack about Americans. Flair made peace with everyone and put Williams in the tag match instead of Kazarian. They then talked about getting some beers and women...

Madison Rayne, Tara, and Sarita made their entrance. Velvet Sky, Mickie James, and Angelina Love caught up to them and they brawled. The referee struggled to get control to officially start the match...

[Q5] 2. Madison Rayne, Sarita, and Tara defeated Velvet Sky, Angelina Love, and Mickie James in 6:02. Hurricarana on Sarita early on for the first nearfall. Chaos broke loose after a Velvet Sky nearfall. Tenay said Lacey Von Erich was training Miss Tessmacher to be a wrestler.

Twill's Two Cents: Yes, you read that correctly. Lacey is training someone to be a wrestler. Man, talk about an empty canvas. You could joke about that all night. I will say that is like Vince McMahon teaching someone how to dial a phone. Or Mike Adamle teaching Jim Ross how to announce. Or Jason Powell teaching Fabio how to style his own hair.

Anyway, Sarita hit a tiger bomb on Velvet for the win...

Backstage, The Pope heard a woman screaming and ran through the backstage area to see what was going on... [C]

Abyss was apparently preparing those fans for his sex dungeon. He and Pope started brawling backstage around that casket. The Undertaker then popped out of there. Not really. Wouldn't that be something though? Oh yeah, the brawl.

Abyss hit a chokeslam and put Pope into the casket. He shut the lid. Ding ding ding. Oh wait, this isn't a casket match. Abyss couldn't find Janice. He was distressed. I know I worry when I cannot find my board covered with nails. He beat the crap out of the casket with Janice and tipped it over.

Generation Me were in the ring. They were wearing tights you would have seen on The Rockers. Seriously. Flicked paint all over black tights and purple lacey crap down toward the boots. Talk about ass ugly.

[Q6] Ink Inc. came to the ring. Shannon Moore said, "Matt and Jeff from 1998 called" and they wanted their gear back. Seriously, Matt and Jeff Hardy wouldn't even wear that. Shannon Moore said they liked to get tattoos and because of that, they represent everyone in the Impact Zone...

Twill's Two Cents: So, that kid in the front row is on his way to get a bunch of tattoos in his neck?

The Machine Guns made their entrance... [C]

3. The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Ink Inc. and Generation Me in a triple threat match to retain the TNA Tag Team Championships in 5:50. Fast paced action early on with G-Me controlling Jesse Neal. Shannon Moore tagged in and hit high risk moves on Ink Inc. Chris Sabin hit a suicide dive on Ink Inc.

Moore looked like he was going to floor too, but he hit a moonsault instead for a nearfall. Then all hell broke loose as a spot-fest broke out. G-Me broke up a pinfall that would have resulted in new champions by pulling the referee from the ring. The Guns then hit their finisher for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: Fun and very fast paced. If you blinked, you missed it.

Team 3D put over the tag team division in TNA as the best in the world. Ray said they were retiring, but they wanted to go out against the best tag team, which today, are the Machine Guns. All Ray was waiting for was an answer.

Alex Shelley said they used to be boys and Team 3D turned them into men. Shelley said they were champions of the people, so he asked the people if they wanted to see it. They cheered and the four men raised their arms in the air...

Twill's Two Cents: I like the mutual respect game, so this was good. We know where it is going, but I like that this is the route they took to get to the match.

[Q7] Backstage, Matt Morgan approached Eric Bischoff and said the issue of Anderson wrestling with a concussion was wrong. Eric said wrestlers were there to work and do what they were told. He had Morgan escorted out. Morgan said Bischoff was being irresponsible... [C]

Morgan went to see Anderson backstage and had to go through the trainer first. He gave the guy his word he just wanted to talk to Anderson...

The announcers ran down the current Turning Point card...

A produced Jeff Hardy promo aired. Rob Van Dam was shown getting ready backstage... [C]

[Q8] 4. A.J. Styles and Douglas Williams defeated Rob Van Dam and Raven in 5:44. Styles and Williams attacked Raven and the match began before RVD even came out to the ring. RVD came out and scored a nearfall on Williams with rolling thunder.

The heels exchanged frequent tags as Raven recovered in his corner. Flair came to the ring and knocked out Raven with the TV Championship belt. RVD didn't see it and realized nobody was there to tag. Williams hit a top rope knee and Styles pinned Van Dam...

After the match, RVD was pissed at Raven because he didn't see what happened during the match with Flair...

Twill's Two Cents: Styles and Williams are bickering, Morgan and Bischoff are bickering, and RVD and Raven are bickering. It's like a marriage counselor's group session waiting room a few minutes before start time.

[Overrun] An ad hyping Family Feud, featuring TNA wrestlers vs. TNA Knockouts, was shown. I cannot believe Steve Harvey is hosting that show now. Does everyone get a turn? ...

Jarrett made his entrance and called out Anderson. Anderson's music played but Matt Morgan came out instead. Impact officially ended...

TNA Reaction

Morgan said Jarrett was his boy and he wanted to talk sense into Jarrett since nobody would listen to him. Morgan said he was a proud member of the Sports Legacy Institute. He said too many athletes and former athletes are suffering from head trauma related injuries.

Morgan said it was up to them to know when someone has had enough. "Are you freakin' kidding me Matt? Do you think I give a damn about Anderson and his concussion?" Jarrett said he didn't care about anybody, including Morgan. Jarrett said there was nothing Morgan could do about the beating Anderson was going to take.

Jarrett ordered Morgan out of the ring. He laid the chain out. Morgan put the chain on and said he was going to kick Jarrett's ass right now. Jarrett tried to get out of it and then hit Morgan with a cheap shot...

Twill's Two Cents: The old school mentality, even on a wrestling show, is unsettling. I like what Morgan has said and maybe this will be the push he should have received after facing Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory in 2009.

5. Jeff Jarrett defeated Matt Morgan in a chain match in 3:07. Morgan wrestled in his suit. He dominated early on, but Jarrett busted him open. Jarrett then hit the Stroke for the win...

Morgan was released from the handcuff connected to the chain. He then started choking Jarrett with the chain, but I'm sure he was willing to let go "when Jarrett had enough." Fortune hit the ring and beat the crap out of Morgan.

Kazarian was dressed like he just left the set of West Side Story. They wrapped the chain around Morgan's neck and hung him over the top rope. He fell lifelessly to the mat...

Twill's Two Cents: That was four or five weeks of stuff that went down in one night. Morgan began his questioning of his own group tonight. It all came to a head in one night. He wrestled his first match against a member of the group. He lost that match. He was beaten down by the group. Immortal (with Fortune) is stacked and full of top talent, so they can afford to lose someone, but this early into things? Why not build up Morgan like WWE did with Evolution and Batista? I think Morgan could be the right guy to head up the fight against Immortal, so I am cool with that, but damn, they rushed into that.
