8/26 Twilling's TNA Impact Live Coverage: Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson, D'Angelo Dinero, and Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Morgan, A.J. Styles, Kazarian, and Douglas Williams
Aug 26, 2010 - 10:00 PM

By Rich Twilling

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, Fla.

[Q1] The short history with Fortune and EV2.0 was shown. Tonight's show is entitled, "Hogan's Calvary." Dixie Carter was backstage with Eric Bischoff and said she had some things to take care of tonight. She came out to the ring. Mike Tenay and Taz checked in on commentary.

Dixie said there have been some great times in TNA and some not so great times. She said she would never let one person take the company down. She then called Ric Flair out to the ring. Flair headed out to the ring in suit and sunglasses.

Flair removed his sunglasses and walked around Dixie. "You are drop dead gorgeous... Why don't you and I go back to the hotel and resolve this like two grown adults?... They know I want you. You know I want you."

Twill's Two Cents: Wait... That isn't the way to talk to your boss?

Dixie said Flair's actions have been disgraceful and although he was a legend, he would not receive any special treatment. She suspended Flair for ninety days. Flair asked if Fortune was suspended as well. Dixie said no. Flair said they were one in the same. He called Fortune to the ring.

Beer Money, A.J. Styles, Kazarian, Matt Morgan, and Doug Williams came out and stood behind Flair. Dixie said Fortune would be doing great things while Fortune stood on the sidelines. Flair took off his jacket.

Dixie's husband entered the ring and promptly got the crap beaten out of him. Hulk Hogan's music hit. He came out with Kurt Angle, The Pope, Mr. Anderson, and Jeff Hardy. They surrounded the ring. Hogan jumped in the ring and grabbed a mic.

Hogan said he ran the company and he was overriding Dixie's decision. He said Flair was not suspended and that he was pissed off. Hogan said Beer Money was busy tonight, so he made a four on four match for tonight...

Twill's Two Cents: That was much hotter than anything involving EV2.0. Nothing against those guys, but Fortune working main events with TNA top babyfaces is what they should be doing.

[Q2] EV2.0, in their new shirts, came out and attacked Fortune as the show went to commercial... [C]

Backstage, Kurt Angle stood with his teammates for tonight's main event. He said they were all there for the TNA World Title, but tonight, it was about TNA as a company and they were going to kick Fortune's ass...

1. Samoa Joe defeated Orlando Jordan in 2:29. Jordan sexually harassed SoCal Val. Didn't need to see that. Jordan's offense included rubbing up on Joe. Minus a few moments, it was all Joe. He hit the Muscle Buster for the win...

Twill's Two Cents: I would have preferred to see a complete squash, but that was close enough. Get Orlando off of television, stat.

Jeff Jarrett came out to the ring and grabbed a microphone as Joe waited on him... [C]

[Q3] Jarrett said Joe was in TNA for five years. He said Joe has changed a lot and he felt he has helped Joe and other young guys. Jarrett asked Joe to be in his corner tonight for his match against Kevin Nash.

He reminded Joe of his history with Kevin Nash. Jarrett asked Joe to take care of Sting tonight. Joe said he didn't choose sides and the only team he played for was his own team. The crowd chanted for Joe as the left...

Twill's Two Cents: Welcome back Joe. Nice job reestablishing him as a badass that only cares about himself.

2. Kevin Nash defeated Jeff Jarrett in 5:03. Nash tried to bring a chair in the ring and then removed the top turnbuckle pad, but it backfired. He did end up hitting a chokeslam for a two count.

Jarrett jumped on Nash's back and applied a sleeper hold. The referee was rammed into the exposed buckle. Jarrett drove Nash into the steel and hit the Stroke. Sting hit Jarrett with the bat. Nash covered and scored the pinfall...

Twill's Two Cents: Tenay said Sting had the "Wolfpac" face paint on. What in the hell is the payoff to this? I would like to see it.

Sting attacked Jarrett after the bell. Hogan's music hit and Bischoff came out. Sting said he wanted Hogan. Bischoff distracted Sting and Hogan hit Sting in the back with a chair. Hogan stared down Sting as Sting recovered... [C]

[Q4] Hogan and Tommy Dreamer spoke Reaction style backstage. Hogan said he needed Dreamer to back off Fortune tonight, but he wanted him to take out Abyss. Dreamer said it was a done deal...

3. Beer Money defeated the Full Blooded Italians in 2:29. Basically a squash match with Beer Money winning with the DWI. After the match, the beer bottle came into play again and Beer Money decimated the FBI...

Twill's Two Cents: Beer Money looked motivated and pissed, which is a good thing. Not sure why they had to completely feed the FBI, two of the best workers in the EV2.0 faction, to them.

The newly reunited Angelina Love and Velvet Sky made their way through the backstage area... [C]

Tommy Dreamer wanted to know who amongst the EV2.0 guys wanted to deliver Abyss' head on a stick. Stevie Richards volunteered...

The original Beautiful People, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, made their Beautiful People entrance. I'm sure a lot of people were happy to see that again...

[Q5] Angelina said true friendships were hard to come by, and something was missing since the two of them went separate ways. Velvet said they should let bygones be bygones so they can dominate the Knockouts Division once again.

The Beautiful People music played again and this time, Madison Rayne and the "unknown" biker made their way into the ring. Madison said if she wasn't such a lady, she would barf in the middle of the ring...

Twill's Two Cents: Yes, that would not be very ladylike. Or very hot either.

Madison said nobody would use her music or refer to themselves as The Beautiful People besides her. She called Velvet and Angelina "silicone whores." She then referred to Velvet as "my little bitch." The four started brawling. Security broke it up, just not well...

Twill's Two Cents: Madison actually cuts a pretty good bitchy and screechy promo. Good to see Velvet and Angelina back together. Look forward to a feud for The Beautiful People name and theme song.

The Motor City Machine Guns talked about teams coming after their belts, and they played the new Rock Band (right?) game... [C]

Earlier today, Magnus, Desmond Wolfe, and Chelsea walked around a shopping mall. Chelsea ended up with one of their credit cards...

4. The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Generation Me in a non-title match in 6:02. Double hip toss followed by a double dropkick by Max and Jeremy Buck.

[Q6] Quick and surprising vicious offense by the Guns followed. Jeremy Buck tagged in and took control of the match for his team. The Bucks then did their double team assisted moonsault. They hit another impressive double team move on Sabin for another two count.

One of the Bucks tried a 450 splash but Sabin put up his knees and held him there. The other Buck brother actually then hit a moonsault on his own brother. Shelley followed with a Warrior's Way. They then hit their finisher for the win...

After the match, the Guns raised the hands of their opponents... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: If you blinked, you missed a lot. Very impressive performance by the Guns and very impressive spots performed by Generation Me. The potential for a very entertaining program between the two is there.

Flair cut a very pissed off promo. Sting came up from behind Flair and put his bat around his neck. He said as soon as Nash and himself get rid of the real problem in TNA, they are coming after Fortune...

Tenay and Taz ran down the current card for No Surrender...

Backstage, Stevie Richards was beating Abyss down. Abyss turned the tides though and he ended up laying Stevie out. "Do you want to join your buddy RVD?" ...

Twill's Two Cents: Why wouldn't the EV2.0 guys, I don't know, take advantage of their numbers to take out Abyss?

[Q7] The brawl continued as both men dented things with each other's heads. Abyss told Stevie to tell the rest of the EV2.0 guys that what happened to RVD is going to happen to them too. If they are watching the show, then Stevie's job is already done... [C]

Rhino hit the ring and called out Abyss to come out to fight. Again, where in the hell was Rhino a few minutes ago? Abyss came out with Janice. By the way, if Janice is his girlfriend, that has got to be uncomfortable sex.

They brawled over to the Spanish announce table. Those things aren't safe in any promotion. Rhino gored Abyss and left triumphantly...

A.J. Styles reminded everyone he was the one who built the TNA house. He warned Dixie that he could tear down what he built. Fortune, minus Beer Money, made their entrance. The babyfaces followed...

Tenay said the match would be seen in its entirety... [C]

[Q8] 5. Kurt Angle, Mr. Anderson, D'Angelo Dinero, and Jeff Hardy defeated A.J. Styles, Kazarian, Matt Morgan, and Doug Williams (with Ric Flair) in 8:48. The first nearfall came with Pope getting a two count on Styles. Very frequent tags by Fortune with Pope in their corner.

Hardy began getting the best of Morgan, but a distraction by Styles changed the tide. Hardy took a lot of offense, especially from Styles and Morgan. Flair pulled Hardy to the floor and kicked him in the balls.

Angle finally tagged in for the first time. Styles and Kazarian bumped like crazy for him. He locked in the ankle lock, but then chaos broke loose with everyone hitting moves on each other. Angle hit the Angle Slam on Kazarian. Pope tagged himself in and pinned Kazarian...

Pope and Angle argued after the bell. Fortune attacked everyone and Beer Money joined their crew. Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and Mick Foley hit the ring. Sabu put Doug Williams through a table. Flair looked pissed and Foley looked pleased as the show went off the air...

Twill's Two Cents: Disappointing main event given the big names involved, and with Fortune taking another loss. They look like an impressive faction, but they need to win some matches, especially matches as a group.

Fortune, EV2.0, and the TNA Heavyweight Championship are all involved in intriguing programs. I'll have more to say in tomorrow's Impact Hitlist. Thank you for following along with me.
