4/12 Twilling's TNA Impact Live Coverage: Lockdown go-home show, Jeff Hardy vs. Robert Roode, Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky, Team 3D vs. The Band
Apr 12, 2010 - 08:00 PM

TNA Impact on Spike TV
Taped in Orlando, Fla.

[Q1] Jeff Jarrett came to the ring and said he was not going to talk about Sting, he was going to go after him. Jarrett headed up to the rafters and knocked Sting down the steps. He said he wanted answers tonight. The crowd chanted "TNA" and for Jarrett...

Jarrett basically dragged Sting to the ring and kept asking him for answers. The crowd yelled "Why Sting why?" over and over again. The lights went out and when they came back on, Sting had a bat in hand. He attacked Jarrett with the bat. Jeff Hardy, RVD, and Abyss made the save...

Backstage, Ric Flair, flanked by Beer Money, Desmond Wolfe, A.J. Styles, and Chelsea, cut a great Flair promo about everyone in the room being what TNA was all about. Every man spoke for a short time about the person on Team Hogan they were focusing on...

Twill's Two Cents: Now that is a faction. There is a lot of potential with this heel faction. Great intensity by Flair and great fire from Styles as well.

Mike Tenay and Taz hyped Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky and the tag match between The Pope and Abyss vs. Styles and Wolfe...

Team 3D came out and called The Band pieces of crap. He said Hulk Hogan changed the match to a New York Street Fight and Jesse Neal was now on the side of Team 3D... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: What makes it a New York street fight? Are they going to hit each other with Statue of Liberty figurines?

[Q2] 1. The Band (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Syxx Pac) defeated Team 3D and Jesse Neal in a New York City street fight in approximately 5:42. The match was joined in progress. Weapons filled the ring and everyone was using them. Brother Ray hit a kendo stick shot on a trash can lid on top of Pac's balls.

Neal continued beating the crap out of Pac with the kendo stick. Hall took a shot to the head and Taz said, "Scott looks more dizzy than normal." Then he backpedaled. "I didn't mean that in a bad way." Hall took the "What's Up?" head butt to the nuts.

Crowd chanted for tables. Pac bumped like a pinball for Ray. Bubba the Love Sponge came out and distracted Ray. Pac hit the X-Factor on Ray through the table and scored the three count...

Twill's Two Cents: Fun brawl that saw The Band absolutely get their ass kicked. The finish was weak because a veteran should not be distracted by a radio DJ. It was a sloppy and weapons spotfest though.

Eric Young came down and cleared the ring with a hockey stick. He challenged Kevin Nash to a match at Lockdown. Nash nodded in acceptance. Young said he was "going to get righteous." ... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: I'm still not sold on Young as a top guy, but I can buy him in a role that sees him facing guys like Kevin Nash in well prepared middle card feuds.

Christy Hemme ran down Hogan and asked him about Lockdown. Hogan said things could be better but he has four main event guys and they will be ready. Hogan noticed Flair talking to Eric Bischoff. He asked Eric what it was all about and wanted to talk to Eric in his office...

Twill's Two Cents: Interesting development. I just noticed that just about everybody is wearing a Lockdown t-shirt. Even Hogan and Styles had one on. I doubt they could get Flair into one of those!

2. Kazarian vs. Shannon Moore ended in a ten minute time limit draw. Douglas Williams (some guys lose their first name, some guys get a longer first name) will defend against both of these guys at Lockdown. Tenay announced Scott Hall and Syxx Pac vs. Team 3D at Lockdown.

[Q3] Moore scored a two count after a cross body block. Kazarian finally gained the advantage when sending Moore to the floor. Kaz received some boos and Taz pointed it out. Slingshot leg drop by Kazarian for a two count. Williams walked out to the broadcast table. Kaz hit a Northern Lights suplex for a two.

Williams referred to the X Division as "Dancing with the Stars." Kaz scored a series of nearfalls. Moore impressed with three straight high risk moves. He hit a moonsault onto Kazarian on the floor. Moore scored a very nearfall with a hurricarana.

Kaz nearly won the match with an electric chair with a bridge. Nice move. Moore hit a spiral tap type move for a two. They traded nearfalls. The bell rang and the crowd booed. The match ended in a time limit draw. The crowd chanted "Let them fight."

After the match, Williams chastised Kazarian and Moore. The crowd chanted "TNA" and they chased Williams off...

Twill's Two Cents: Good match and I like Williams' character, but it gets to be a bit much from time to time. The match was fun to watch and the nearfalls were well done. The crowd seems to be getting into the X Division again and if they do, matches like this will be even better.

JB interviewed Velvet Sky backstage. She said tonight's match would not be for the Knockouts' Championship because this Sunday, there would be a tag match with TBP vs. Tara and Angelina Love. If TBP pins either opponent, they win the belt. The tag straps are on the line tonight. The winner of tonight's match would be the first to strip their opponent down to their underwear... [C}

Twill's Two Cents: My contract stipulates that I am required to say that whomever wins the match, we all win the match.

[Q4] Hogan laid into Bischoff in his office. Bischoff played it off by saying he wanted to keep his friends close and enemies closer to help Hogan. Hogan wasn't buying it. Black Machismo came in and wanted to reunite The Mega Powers to go up against The Band. Hogan looked at him like he was nuts...

JB interviewed Angelina Love and she said she came to TNA to be the best. Tara approached her and they had a verbal altercation. Tara delivered the "keep your friends close and enemies closer" line for the second time in the segment. Any Godfather reference is cool with me... [C]

Christy interviewed Pope and Abyss backstage about Lockdown and tonight's tag team main event. Pope gave a good promo and when Abyss was talking, Pope had the most hilarious facial expressions, as if he was thinking, "Yeah, I'm the man, so what of it?" Funny...

[Q5] 3. Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky in a non-title I Quit match ended in a no contest in 4:11. Velvet said this was no longer going to be a leather and lace match. Instead, it was going to be a "You being handcuffed while I whip that ass." Referee Slick Johnson, as if he carried handcuffs all of the time, quickly applied them to Love... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: If this was a Jeff Jarrett match, he would still find a way to win.

Velvet hit Angelina with the belt. She then changed it to an "I Quit" match. Velvet beat the crap out of Angela and choked her. Love continued to say "No" when asked if she gave up. I'll forgo the obvious joke.

Velvet said maybe if she stripped Love naked she would quit. Love responded, "I said no you bitch!" TBP came down to make it a three on one. Tara came out to help Angelina and unlock her from the cuffs. TBP took off. Angelina extended her hand to Tara but Tara just walked away...

Twill's Two Cents: How does an I Quit match end in a no contest? What the hell was that? Also, if you are Velvet, why wouldn't you make it three-on-one with the handcuffs for the title? Oh well. Sometimes logic flies out the window.

In the parking lot, Abyss was laid out and Christy just said a car sped away. She would have more information when she received it... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: Frank the Tank, Mitch, and Beanie are at it again.

Christy said Abyss was ran down by the car...

Matt Morgan was interviewed with both tag title belts. He brought in his new partner, Amazing Red. He called Red the best pound for pound wrestler in TNA. He told him to his high flying stuff to set someone up for the Carbon Footprint. "Game, set, match." ...

4. Matt Morgan and Amazing Red defeated The Motor City Machine Guns to retain the TNA World Tag Team Championships in 9:09. Morgan came out to the ring holding both belts. Funny. Morgan's size and dominance was apparent early on... [C]

[Q6] Back from commercial, Red and Sabin got the crowd going. Shelley tagged in and there was more of the same. Apparently, there was a camera in the parking lot that taped what happened to Abyss. Sabin nearly pinned Red.

The Guns hit a double team suplex into a twisting slam for a two count. Morgan tagged back in and took out both Guns. Morgan attempted a fallaway slam but was dropkicked. Morgan kicked out of the double pin. Morgan tagged in Red. Morgan set up for the Hellevator but Red hit the Code Red (similar to the Canadian Destroyer) for the win...

Morgan was pissed that Red got the pin and he didn't, so he kicked his ass afterward. He set up Red's head against the ringpost and ran at him with the footprint, but the Guns pulled him out of the way...

Twill's Two Cents: Good tag team match. I didn't like that the Guns received their shot and instead of the focus being on that, the focus was on much larger Morgan was than everyone in the ring. Had they been serious about it, a Morgan and Red tag team could have been a pretty good combination.

Backstage, Abyss was being tended to. Christy said we would not believe the footage on the surveillance tape... [C]

Christy said Abyss was stabilized and on his way to the hospital. She showed the surveillance footage and she said we could make our own conclusions. I guess it was supposed to be Bischoff or Wolfe, but it looked more like Bubba the Love Sponge to me. Maybe it was Rikishi...

[Q7] 5. Jeff Hardy defeated Robert Roode in 6:15. Hardy started quickly but Roode took Hardy to the floor and used the outside of the ring to his advantage. They announced RVD vs. James Storm as the opener for Sunday's pay-per-view with the winner earning the numbers advantage for his team.

Both men went down and the referee started the ten count. Hardy came back and hit the front suplex. He hit the Whisper in the Wind for a long two count. Roode hit a nice spinebuster for a two count of his own. Hardy hit a Stunner (yes, a Stunner) and went to the top.

James Storm distracted Hardy momentarily. Hardy kicked Storm away and threw Roode back to the mat. He hit the Swanton for the win. Storm immediately attacked Hardy. Storm blew a fireball into Hardy's face. RVD finally got his ass out there but it was too late. Beer Money took care of him too... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: Flair's team keeps sending the bigger messages while losing the actual matches. This has been a good show for in ring work which is odd for a go-home pay-per-view. Not a bad idea; have the guys that can work and/or have a connection with the crowd go out there and do their thing.

Tenay told us that they could not air the fireball being spit in Hardy's face. Obviously, I was listening and not watching. However, you can go to TNAWrestling.com to see it, but be warned, the graphic material is not suitable for all ages...

[Q8] Video footage of the Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle feud was shown. "Thank God I'm an asshole," said Anderson. He needs to put that on a t-shirt... [C]

The Pope made his entrance for the tag team main event, but Beer Money took out Black Machismo, Pope's new partner bacstage. A.J. Styles, Ric Flair, and Chelsea made their entrance. Styles said this was now a handicap match. Wolfe made his entrance but Hogan took him out with a chair...

6. D'Angelo Dinero defeated A.J. Styles and Desmond Wolfe in a handicap match by disqualification in :47. Flair interfered and the referee called for the bell. Beer Money hit the ring and the onslaught was on. Hogan came out to the stage and the show went off the air...

Twill's Two Cents: Solid show was a questionable ending. Pope should be the one looking like a star going into the pay-per-view and not Hogan. Everything stopped when Hogan came out as Pope had just taken a beating. I am loving Flair's stable though and have high hopes for them. I'll have more to say in tonight's Member's Exclusive Audio and tomorrow's Buy or Sell column.
