TNA Bound For Glory post-show press conference: Sting comments on his future, A.J. Styles, Matt Morgan, Daniels, and Eric Young answer questions, excellent concept

|
The following is a recap of the TNA Bound For Glory press conference, which aired on Mycontent.com on Sunday night. I tuned in a few minutes past the top of the hour so I may have missed a few of Young's comments.
-Eric Young stood in front of a podium with a TNA and Mycontent.com background. He answered questions from what sounded like one person. He said he already feels like he's a Hall of Famer and put over winning the TNA Legends Title. The interviewer asked him about which legends he'd like to face. He mentioned Ric Flair and Sting. Young left the podium.
-Matt Morgan was up next. He put over how physical the match was and said he couldn't believe what he just went through. He said he came in with hatred for Kurt Angle, but left with respect for him because he didn't cheat. He said he won Angle's respect and said Kurt whispered in his ear afterward that no one had ever taken him that far.
Morgan said his shoulder came up just after the three count: "To know that you're that close to a win against the best wrestler on the planet? That's all you can ask for." Morgan said he wasn't surprised Angle targeted his knee during the match. He said every wrestler he faces does. He put over Angle as the best wrestler in the universe today. He said he had to use power and finesse to counter what Angle brought.
Morgan said he wants to change the way people think of seven-foot wrestlers. He wants other seven-footers to have the same athletic ability and mic skills. He said his goal is to be the next TNA Champion.
-Daniels was next up. He said he was beaten up and sore. He said the last few moments of the match were a blur and by that he meant watching the match come at him 90 miles per hour. He said he didn't know there was going to be new equipment used in the Ultimate X match, so it changed his strategy. He said he was trying to use his environment to his advantage rather than have it work against him.
Daniels spoke about Ultimate X and said it's more about what a person is willing to do to win a match than it is about wrestling ability. The interviewer asked where the match ranks. He said not winning the match brings it down a notch for him. He said he has a bruised neck and a slightly separated shoulder.
-A.J. Styles entered the picture and placed his title belt on the podium. He said he wishes he could say it was a great feeling to end Sting's streak at BFG, but at the same time he wishes Sting could have won the match also. He said he's physically beat up. He praised Sting as being one of the best matches in the world. He said he appreciates Sting taking the challenge and facing him.
Styles put over the Scorpion Death Lock and said he thought Sting was going to break his back. He said he wasn't surprised, though, because Sting is such an icon. He said he was praying that Sting wouldn't get up after he hit the springboard splash that won the match. "I don't think I could take anymore," Styles said.
The interviewer asked Styles about his breast cancer awareness tights. He said they're not because he thinks he looks good in pink. He said he wants to help spread the word and make people aware of it. Styles thanked Sting for his friendship and for being "an awesome mentor." He said they spend time alone getting recharged by their faith.
-Sting approached the podium after Styles left. He was asked how Styles compares to some of the legends he's faced throughout his career such as Ric Flair. Sting said he can't be compared. He said Styles is the innovator of innovators. "He's creativity and his tenacity are endless, period," Sting said. He praised Styles and said he gave him everything he had during the match. He said Styles had an answer for everything he threw at him.
Sting said he had the Scorpion locked in, but Styles surprised him by escaping the hold. He said he also thought he had Styles when he hit the Scorpion Death Drop the first time. Sting said the match is top three in his career. Sting spoke about his winning streak at BFG. He said the streak doesn't define him.
Sting noted that the match was clean from bell to bell. He said he expected that from Styles. Sting recalled trying to walk away over the last four years. He said every time he tries to get out, they drag him back in. He said the line was from Scarface, but it was actually Godfather 3. Sting said he doesn't want to talk about a rematch with Styles.
Sting said he feels like the Brett Favre of wrestling. "You don't want to hang it up," he said. He recalled Ric Flair battling the same thing he is. He said he couldn't understand why Flair didn't leave when he'd already accomplished everything. "Now I get it," Sting said. He said that without the fans, there would be no Sting or pro wrestling. He thanked the fans, especially the fans who were in California. He said it was special because he was in his home state. He said no one from his family could make it because they were in Texas.
Sting was asked whether this is his final match in TNA. He said he doesn't know. He said he plans to think about it over the next few weeks. He praised God to conclude the press conference.
Powell's POV: The press conference was excellent. It captured the sports vibe perfectly and the wrestlers all did a great job. It also shows that they can come up with their own material and don't need everything written out for them in such detail. In that sense, the press conference was a throwback to the pre-creative team days. Great concept and I hope we see more of it after big events. It's a shame they didn't do more to promote this during the pay-per-view.
