TNA News: Mick Foley lobbied to change the finish of Thursday's TNA Impact main event, which led to a reshoot
Oct 12, 2009 - 02:00 PM

Mick Foley was the target of criticism coming out of the TNA tapings this week after lobbying to change the Impact main event that aired on Thursday. The original plan was for Foley to take the pin in his tag match with Kurt Angle against Matt Morgan and Abyss.

Foley successfully lobbied to alter the match so that his character would call for Dr. Stevie and Daffney to replace him and Angle in mid-match. The company went along with Foley's plan on Monday night, but the match bombed badly. TNA officials decided to reshoot the match at Tuesday's taping using the original finish with Foley losing. The second version of the match (with Foley losing) ended up airing on Impact.

Mick didn't put up a fuss over the booking plan like Booker T did to avoid doing a job at the tapings. Nevertheless, the feeling of multiple sources was that Foley was trying to avoid taking the pinfall. "He's crafty," one source stated. "He knows how to hide behind that nice guy image."

Powell's POV: While it's possible that Foley simply felt that his idea was better, the perception of multiple TNA sources is that he was trying to avoid losing the match. I'm sure Foley has another side of the story, but he may need to share it with people in TNA to erase some of the bad feelings he created on Monday night.
