TNA's first home closing and scheduled to be torn down
Oct 7, 2009 - 04:07 PM |
The mayor of Nashville has opted to close the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, which was the home of TNA pay-per-view events during the company's early years. The plan is to tear down the fairgrounds and develop the land. You can check out the full story at NashvilleCityPaper.com. [Thanks to Devin Cutting of ProwrestlingEvents.tk.]
Powell's POV: This was not a popular decision, as the article notes that the mayor's announcement was greeted with boos. That said, I don't think the reaction had much to do with TNA's history at the building. The plan is to shut the building on June 30, 2010. For historical reasons, it would be cool if TNA ran one more show in the old building.
