TNA wrestler Kip James looks back on his run as half of the New Age Outlaws in WWE, says they initially weren't wanted in DX
Sep 8, 2009 - 04:29 PM

TNA wrestler Kip James spoke in detail about his WWE run during an interview with Jim Varsallone in the Miami Herald. "We never worried at all because we never really had an agenda, except to go out there and do the best we could and try to get over with the crowd,'' James said regarding the New Age Outlaws tag team with B.G. James. ``We wanted to make money. We wanted to go out there and have fun and make the people have fun, and that's what we did. People caught on."

James said there was some resistance to putting the team in DX. "At first, they didn't want us in DX because the guys were new at it, and the company said they're really not doing this, but, of course, the fans really dictate what goes on, and they loved us," he said. "We were heels, and they loved us.

"It was kind of like a 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. He never catered to the people, but they loved him. We did kind of the same format but really never copied it. We went out there and did some silly stuff, did some crazy stuff, and all of sudden they said, `Yea, we're putting you with D-X and run with it.'" To read the full interview, visit MiamiHerald.com.

Powell's POV: I was surprised to see James speak more about his WWE run than his current gig with TNA. It's a fun interview with plenty of quotes regarding his lengthy career. It's good to see TNA's public relations team getting the wrestlers out there with the media more often. They've definitely cranked it up in that regard.
