TNA formally announced the signing of Bobby Lashley to a contract. They are claiming he is the "first active pro wrestler in the western world to simultaneously compete as an active MMA fighter."

“This is a great opportunity for Bobby to do something that has never been done before," TNA president Dixie Carter stated in a message posted on the TNA website. "He is the perfect ambassador for both sports. We are excited to have him join TNA, he is a true star that brings so much to the table as a member of our roster." Powell's POV: I guess Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn (and others) don't count as people who have wrestled and fought. Sure, it's facetious for TNA to make that claim, but I like the way they are promoting it as something special. All indications are that Lashley will only work TNA television events and will not be going on the road for house shows.
