TNA wrestler Consequences Creed discusses how he got his start and name in pro wrestling
Jun 7, 2009 - 10:58 AM |
Consequences Creed (a/k/a Austin Watson) was featured by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Sunday and explained when he knew he wanted to be a pro wrestler. "You know when you’re in first grade and the teacher goes around the room and asks ‘What do you want to be?’" Creed said. "The other kids all said fireman or policeman or doctor. I said pro wrestler, and everybody laughed at me. It just seemed like the best job ever, because you got to go out in front of people and do what you love on a daily basis.”
Creed also explained where his wrestling name came from. "In wrestling school, they gave three of us boxes at random [that] had gear that people used to wear in the ’80s," he continued. "Mine happened to be a red, white and blue cape and trunks, and when I put it on, they were all like, ‘You’re Apollo Creed!' 'Consequences' is something they came up with when I came in to do Bound for Glory.” To read the full interview, visit AJC.com.
Powell's POV: Nice publicity for Creed and TNA. He has a nice story that TNA touched on briefly during the Rough Cuts segment. Thanks to Dot Net reader Bob Hughes for passing along the story.
