These disputes happened regularly in my area between Comcast and sports networks. They battled with the Big 10 Network for over a year before striking a deal. I can't imagine the dispute will go on that long in this case because both sides have too much to lose. That being said, if you live in one of the affected areas, be ready to be besieged with more DirecTV and Dish Network ads than ever before.
