Mick Foley comments on whether he's concerned the jump to TNA will cost him a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, and the stiff chairshot he took from Kurt Angle at the Bound For Glory PPV

Mick Foley was featured in a lengthy interview conducted by Newsday.com blogger Alfonso Castillo in which he commented on whether jumping to TNA hurt his WWE Hall of Fame chances. "I’ve had the advantage of having a lot of closure to my career," Foley said. "I had the book that kind of summed up all my experiences. And I’m recognized and seemingly appreciated on a daily basis by fans. So I’m not in need of healing, which is what the entry to the Hall of Fame seems to be for a lot of guys. So, although I would be flattered to one day be asked, in no way am I looking at inclusion in the WWE Hall of Fame as necessary to complete my career."
Foley also discussed the stiff chairshot he took from Kurt Angle and being criticized for taking unnecessary risks. "I didn’t know that Kurt was going to be quite that angry," he said. "That’s probably Jeff Jarrett’s statement that I was the greatest acquisition in TNA history showing itself. But, you know, I can take a shot here and there. I guess, from what my kids said, my wife was a little concerned. But you know, hey, people are going to be critical of anything. There’s a certain number of people who are critical of anything that anybody does in wrestling. So I’m pretty comfortable with that decision." Powell's POV: The chairshot Foley took was unnecessary. Mick is a bright guy and I wish he'd come to his senses regarding the shots he's taken to the head over the years. He's a respected figure in pro wrestling and he could do a lot of good if he spoke out against unnecessary blows to the head. Just because he's held up well despite all the chairshots he's taken over the years doesn't mean the next guy who emulates his stunts will be so lucky.
Overall, though, this is a very interesting interview that covered a lot of ground. Foley also discussed the criticism of Vince Russo and TNA booking, working with Sting again after 14 years, and whether he's interested in working as an announcer in TNA.
