3/21 TNA Impact TV taping: A third report on the taping for Thursday's television show (spoilers)
Mar 15, 2013 - 10:14 AM |
TNA Impact Wrestling TV taping
Chicago, Illinois
Report by Dot Net reader Anthony Iafollo
Before the live show, Dixie Carter came out and thanked the fans. The upper deck opposite camera side was basically empty. Other than that it was a packed crowd. After the live show ended, Devon headed back through the Aces and Eights entrance and jawed with a fan and then slapped the fan in the face.
1. Kenny King defeated Sonjay Dutt and Zema Ion to retain the X Division Title. There were botched moves early on. Dutt with an awesome double frankensteiner. Fast paced match. Dutt hit a springboard moonsault to the outside. Inside, Dutt hit Zema with a moonsault foot stomp on Dutt, but ran into Kenny King's springboard blockbuster, giving King the win.
Mike Tenay got in the ring and introduced AJ Styles. Tenay asked AJ about the rumors of his drug and alcohol use. Taz interrupted and told Tenay he doesn't know how to conduct an interview. He told AJ that Aces and Eights has a spot for him at the bottom. James Storm came out and said the old AJ would tell you to your face. He said he is still the same old Cowboy James Storm. Storm told him if he sucker punches him he'll kick his teeth down his throat. The crowd chanted "hug it out." AJ left. During the break, Storm drank a couple fans' beers.
2. Matt Morgan beat Joseph Park. It started off slow. Morgan punked out Parks and taunted him. Morgan dominated most of the match. Morgan missed the big boot. Park made a comeback but missed the second rope diving splash. Morgan hit him with the big boot to get the win.
Hogan came out on one crutch to a big ovation. He said he's been around a long time, but he's never been fooled like he was bye Aces and Eights. When he sent the roster out last week and they were destroyed by them, he realized it's a war. He brought up the four guys who took the bull by the horns and lead the rest of the packand brought them out - first Samoa Joe, then Magnus, Kurt Angle and finally Jeff Hardy. Hogan said he's also talking to the rest of the roster. He needs those four to put Aces and Eights out and bring back the title. He asked Hardy if he's 100 percent for his rematch. Hardy said tonight they should have a four way match between the men in the ring and whoever wins gets first dibs on Bully Ray.
3. Bobby Roode and Austin Aries defeated Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez to retain the TNA Tag Titles. Back and forth action. Late in the match, Hernandez hit a flurry of offense, including a running dive over the top rope into the ring from the ramp onto both men. Chavo goes up for the frogspash on Aries. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian came out. Daniels distracted Chavo and Aries rolled him up for the win. After the match, Daniels and Kazarian beat up Aries and Roode.
Taryn Terrell came out. She said she is on probation but had to do what she had to do when Gail Kim put her hands on her. Gail came out and said she's glad she learned her lesson, like the other Knockouts, not to mess with Gail Kim, the greatest women's wrestler that ever lived. She said she created the Knockouts Division. Gail called out Brooke Hogan to fire Taryn.
Brooke said it was a tough decision but she has to be fair and terminate Teryn as a referee for the Knockouts. She has decided though, to sign Taryn to the Knockout roster. Taryn speared Gail. They brawled backstage as Bully came out and snuck behind Brooke. She turned around, they had words. Bully raised his hand at Brooke and she backed down and left.
4. Jeff Hardy defeated Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, and Magnus to become No. 1 contender to the TNA Title. Early on in the match Samoa Joe hit a beautiful suicide dive through the middle rope to all three. A lot of action. Later in the match, Hardy gave all three a version of the Twist of Fate. Eventually, Angle got the Ankle Lock on Joe. Angle and Magnus ended up outside the ring. Hardy hit the Swanton on Joe out of nowhere to win.
After the match, Magnus looked on as Joe shook Hardy's hand. Angle walked to the back looking pissed. End of show. Jeremy Borash thanked the crowd and told us there was an after party.
