TNA News: Final Impact Zone shows, official statement regarding TNA Impact Wrestling going on the road
Jan 31, 2013 - 08:55 PM |
TNA issued a press release to announce that TNA Impact Wrestling will be leaving the Impact Zone in favor of taking the show on the road. "For the past 8 years, Impact Wrestling has been filmed on the largest soundstage at Universal Studios Orlando," reads the press release. "The final two shows to be filmed from the Impact Zone at Universal will be February 28 and March 7."
TNA president Dixie Carter stated: "This is a tremendous step forward for TNA. Fans from around the world have been coming to us at Universal for more than 8 years to be a part of the Impact Wrestling audience. It's now time for us to take the Impact Wrestling television cameras to them.
"This is a very important next evolution for the company, and I'm excited that the backdrop to the show will feature our great fans in larger arenas around the country and world. We are so grateful to Universal for being such fantastic partners and look forward to finding other ways to work together in the future." To read the full press release, visit ImpactWrestling.com.
Powell's POV: The first show outside the Impact Zone will be held March 14 in Chicago, Illinois at Sears Centre Arena. People I spoke with in TNA earlier today were under the impression that the Impact Zone would still be utilized, so the press release stating that the final show at the Impact Zone will take place on March 7 will surprise some. At the very least, I assumed they would still tape the Friday night "One Night Only" themed pay-per-views at the Impact Zone. That said, this is a good move for the company, assuming it makes business sense from a production cost standpoint. The talent and the company should come off much better while playing in front of a crowds that are not overexposed to the product. Plus, I won't have to see Creepy Sting Fan Guy in the crowd every week, which is a huge plus.
