Recap of TNA-themed CMT countdown show
Sep 6, 2008 - 05:07 PM

Dot Net reader Dan Strauss filed the following report on the CMT countdown show that featured TNA wrestlers on Friday. The show will be replayed on Sunday morning.

I turned it to CMT as Lance Smith was interviewing Booker T in his dressing room. Booker stayed in character and treated Smith like he should be honored to be in his awesome room, and made some comments like he was going to hurt Smith as they cut to a commercial.

Smith was seen in the parking area and said he was waiting for Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle to show up. Kurt arrived in a business suit and also stayed in heel character. He seemed to not know or care who Lance Smith was because he asked what he was doing and finally said "look, do you want an autograph or something? Get in touch with my manager and he will get you taken care of" and blew him off.

Another segment showed Smith in the ring with the Beautiful people. They mocked him a little and after stepping away for a minute, they showed Smith kneeling in pain, from a low-blow I'm guessing. They put the paper bag over his head, then ODB came out and chased the People away. Lance stood up in pain and ODB kissed him on the lips to bring him back to consciousness or something. She wanted to take him with her, giving the impression they would sneak off and do naughty things. Smith still seemed groggy and went along.

That's all I saw from it. Being a wrestling fan I thought it was pretty cool, but since TNA doesn't have as big a following as WWE, many people tuning in may have not known what they were showing.

Powell's POV: TNA officials can only hope that their product was exposed to new viewers via this show, so I don't think it would be a bad thing if viewers weren't familiar with the product. If anyone saw or sees the full show, feel free to send additional details.
