TNA Slammiversary onsite report: Wrestler spits a loggie into the crowd following his match, live notes on the reaction to each match and the appearance by WWE star Christian
Jun 11, 2012 - 03:02 PM

Dot Net Member Candelario Perez, Jr. attended the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view in Arlington, Texas and sent the following report.

I arrived at the arena about half an hour before showtime, and there was plenty of free parking available. I noticed a lot of families arriving to the show with just as many "smart" fans behind them. There were no issues getting inside the building or to my seat in the arena.

Jeremy Borash did some good work on the mic to get the crowd pumped. He teased that the loudest section of the building will be on camera more, and the two loudest fans would both get $200 checks from Direct Auto Insurance. A fan was also selected at random and received a $100 gift card to use at the merchandise booth. I wish WWE would give these prizes away at their live events.

A lot of "Yes!" chants from the smart fans before we were on live. The chant caught on because I saw a lot of moms and dads doing the same. I doubt they knew where it came from, but it was funny nonetheless.

Hulk Hogan appearance: Huge pop for Hulk, but from where I was sitting the guy looks very soft and old. However, the fans loved him and a lot of Hogan shirts and signs were in attendance.

Austin Aries vs. Samoa Joe: An incredible match! Fans were encouraged to cheer on Aries by SoCal Val in the beginning, but the crowd went crazy for all the good spots towards the end of the match.

Kid Kash vs. Hernandez: Smart fans tried to start up a "Si!" chant for Hernandez, but it didn't stick. SoCal Val was helpful letting the crowd know who the babyface was in this match.

Devon and Garett Bischoff vs. Robbie E and Robbie T: Smart fans hated Garett! A lot of "You Can't Wrestle" and "We Want Devon" chants were heard before Devon made the tag. Sad to say Madison Rayne didn't look as attractive live as she does on television. Bummer. The fans cheered the awkward post match dance from Devon and Garett.

Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Rob Van Dam: I believe Hardy was the reason a lot of the kids were in attendance. A loud high pitched cheer was heard when he stepped out on stage. Kids were wearing Hardy-like face paint. They were not applauding, however, when Anderson won the match.

Crimson vs. James Storm: Smart fans started the Goldberg chants, while casual fans were puzzled whether he would be there or not. Storm was a welcome surprise, and the Texas fans will always cheer a guy in a cowboy hat. Nicely done, TNA.

Dixie introduces Sting as inductee into TNA Hall of Fame: Sting looked really confused when Dixie said it was him. He wanted to head to the ring right away, but the other wrestlers stopped him so he could watch the video package first. Sting got the loudest pop of the night by far. I couldn't see or hear anyone booing him during his speech and during his match later.

Gail Kim vs. Miss Tessmacher: I thought Tessmacher would get a bigger reaction than she did, but a lot of fans went to the lobby for refreshments and merchandise during the match. A guy held a huge "BOTCH" sign when Tessmacher made her big mistake in the ring.

Bully Ray vs. Joseph Park: Holy crap did Bully Ray get heat! The "Yankees Suck" chant was very loud. The crowd was behind Joesph Park and his antics. There's no way Abyss could of changed in and out of his clothes that fast. I couldn't tell if it was an actor playing Abyss under the hoodie.

Christian Cage appearance: Casual fans didn't know who he was. A "Peeple Power" sign was seen in the arena. After Christian introduced his video, he quickly ran to the back. A bit of a let down.

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian vs. A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle for the TNA Tag Titles: Match of the night! Fans were on their feet for a majority of the match. The crowd went crazy when Kazarian tapped. While Kazarian was heading up the ramp, the crowd chanted "You Tapped Out!" In response, Kazarian spat a loogie into the crowd, and it landed on a guy's knee one row in front of me. Classy.

Bobby Roode vs. Sting: The crowd went crazy for Sting (again). His entrance music is extremely loud. Roode was booed, but not as much as Bully Ray. Fans were not happy with the finish but were sent home happy with the post-match beat down by Sting.

Overall a great live event and great PPV. I hope they come back to Arlington again next year. This venue is set up so there is not a bad seat in the house. It was not a sellout, but it looks like there was well over six thousand people in attendance.

Biggest Pops
Sting
Hogan
