TNA News: Mick Foley discusses the Impact Wrestling rebranding, says the use of the TNA name is "still being explained to me
May 19, 2011 - 10:03 AM

TNA star Mick Foley spoke with IGN regarding the Impact Wrestling rebranding move. Foley was asked about how the TNA name will be used. "I'm still having all those details explained to me too," Foley said. "I think for corporate reasons, for business reasons, they can't just make a name change that quickly.

"But the Impact Zone is now the Impact Wrestling Zone. Impact Wrestling is what we say now when we're talking about the show. Some of the other things I'll have to see how they play out. But I for one am going to say the word Impact followed by the word Wrestling as often as I can."

Foley was also asked about WWE eliminating the world wrestling form its name. "That's been an on-going issue for them for years. I remember I would be reprimanded after doing an interview because I called myself a wrestler. I always considered myself a wrestler and I still do.

"I don't fault them for distancing themselves because they feel there is a stigma attach to it. But at the same time there are a ton of people who still love the traditions attached to wrestling and who don't consider the business anything other than 'professional wrestling.' So I think if the WWE is going to distance themselves then we are going to embrace it." To read the full interview, visit IGN.com.

Powell's POV: TNA has Foley do a round of media interviews to discuss the rebranding, yet the details regarding the name are still being explained to him? Does anyone know what the hell is going on with this name change? Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle both suggested last week that the TNA name was gone, but it's obviously not. Maybe we'll find out more tonight when Impact Wrestling airs on Spike at 8:00 p.m. CT.
