Hernandez of LAX underwent neck surgery this week, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. Hernandez is expected to miss between six and nine months. The attack by the new British Invasion faction was an injury angle that will be used to explain his absence.

Update: Johnson is now reporting that Hernandez may only miss between two and three months.

Powell's POV: I'm sorry to hear this. Hernandez was a blast to watch in person at the recent house show in Rochester, Minn. In addition to performing his signature spots, he had to endure some idiotic comments from fans at ringside. He not only kept his composure, but he was all smiles throughout the match. I gained a lot of respect for him that night.

I assume this means Homicide will be competing in the X Division while his partner recovers from surgery. Homicide holds a briefcase that guarantees him a shot at the X Division Title, just as Hernandez holds the briefcase that guarantees him a shot at the TNA Title. No word yet on how TNA intends to book handle the situation with Hernandez's briefcase, although I assume they'll just hold off until he returns.
