TNA officials have expressed interest in bringing in Ultimate Warrior to team with Sting, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. However, no serious talks have taken place and there are no plans for Warrior to appear on the Slammiversary pay-per-view.

The company is also planning for the possibility of Sting retiring when his contract expires at the end of the year, as TNA wants to give him a proper sendoff after watching what WWE did for Ric Flair. However, Sting has not indicated whether he plans to retire at the end of the year.

Powell's POV: Based on the interview footage that aired last week, it appeared TNA was building toward Sting facing Warrior, which would be more appealing to me than seeing them team. Granted, some of that may be for all the wrong reasons, but I genuinely think there would be more interest in a Sting vs. Warrior singles match. Warrior has been training for his in-ring return with the NWE promotion.

As for the Sting retirement portion of the story, I think it's wise for TNA to plan for the possibility of him hanging up the boots. They can't match what WWE did for Flair on that final weekend, but I think they could do a much better job of building toward that moment during the months leading up to his final match. Unfortunately, Sting doesn't work house shows, so I'm not sure whether they could talk him into doing a retirement tour.
