TNA News: Mick Foley responds to skepticism that significant changes won't be made despite the "Impact Wrestling" rebranding move

TNA star Mick Foley told Brian Fritz of BetweenTheRopes.com that he's still confused by the Impact Wrestling name change. "You know, I'm still wondering in a lot of ways," Foley said. "But I think we wanted the name for the show specifically that made people instantly aware that we were a wrestling show."

Foley was asked whether he expects to see more wrestling on the television show. "You know, I hope so. And not just more wrestling, but hopefully better wrestling. I'm not taking a knock at any of the guys. I think, for example, when Ric Flair and I had the big match in October, it took people by surprise and they said, 'Wow, that's something we'd expect to see on a pay-per-view.'

"I think there has been a little sense over the years that wrestling was secondary to the other things going on in the show. So I'd like to see an increase in the number of minutes of wrestling, but I'd also like to see an increase in the seriousness of the matches - that more matches are seen as being pay-per-view quality."

Foley also addressed the skepticism that the rebranding will lead to significant changes. "I would say that personally, I'm doing my very best to make the show different and to make the show matter, and that hopefully we will see a positive change," said Foley. We're going to know one way or another in the next month or so if people are happy with the changes. If they're not, we'll try to tweak them again." Obviously, that's the move they would have to make, but tonight's show is a big one in that I think people are excited about the "wrestling matters" slogan, but they could give up entirely if TNA doesn't live up to those words.
