Newsday.com reporter Josh Stewart reached out to a spokesman Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins and asked about rumors that he is interested in buying the company. "There is no reason to comment on rumors," the spokesman said. "Billy is completely focussed on Resistance Pro's upcoming second anniversary." Read the story at Newsday.com.

Powell's POV: Corgan has yet to address the rumors on his Twitter page. It started with former pro wrestling personality Lou D'Angeli stating on his Twitter page that Corgan "is pretty serious in at least partial, if not, majority ownership." D'Angeli has since noted that the tweet has not been deleted and instructed his followers to "read it carefully and you will have your answer." Follow D'Angeli online at Twitter.com/LDAngeli.

It's worth noting once again that I have yet to hear from anyone in the pro wrestling industry who has knowledge of Corgan meeting with Dixie Carter or Panda Energy to discuss a possible purchase. Rather, I am aware of another notable name who has expressed interest in buying the company. Corgan or his camp could easily issue a statement denying any interest if there is none, but you can't exactly blame them if the idea is to let the story linger and stir up more media attention, as it has drawn some interest from mainstream outlets that are also mentioning his pro wrestling promotion Resistance Pro, which will hold its second anniversary event on November 23 in Chicago, Illinois at Amundsen High School.
