Jonny Fairplay discussed his upcoming Ring of Honor appearance in an interview on the Rolling Stone website. "I'm going to be at the Ring of Honor show at the Hammerstein Ballroom," he stated during the interview. "I'm going to visit my good friends Larry Sweeny and Chris Hero.
"New York is my second favorite city, so we'll go out the night before, do the town big, maybe talk about some of our exploits in the ring. And the champion, Nigel McGuinness, gave me a concussion the last time I was there, but I've been guaranteed that won't happen again. I think we'll be on the same page this time.
Fairplay also revealed that he was going to wrestle women in TNA and use Bob Zmuda's Intergender Championship gimmick that was used by Andy Kaufman during his famous Memphis run. When asked why the idea never came to fruition, Fairplay said: "That's one of the greatest mysterious in wrestling. I thought it was a no brainer, especially with the support of Zmuda." Powell's POV: Good interview and great publicity for Ring of Honor. Fairplay has been doing a lot of publicity for his ROH appearances. He'll already be in the New York area for the Survivor finale the night after his ROH appearance, so the company doesn't even have to pay for his transportation. Given the publicity he's generating, it was a no-brainer for ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky to use him on the show.
