Spike TV issued a press release on Monday night to formally announce the new three-year programming agreement with TNA. "The deal, which begins October 1, 2009, includes three new years of TNA’s weekly Impact show as well as the addition of a new original series of one-hour specials," reads the press release.
"Each special (title TBD) will feature the biggest personalities and highlight some the greatest and awe-inspiring bouts in the history of TNA, many of them never before seen on basic cable. TNA Entertainment will produce 10 one-hour installments." To read the full press release, visit TNAwrestling.com. [Thanks to Devin Cutting of ProwrestlingEvents.tk.]
Powell's POV: Obviously, this is great news for TNA. I was hoping the additional programming would feature live broadcasts similar to the old WCW Clash of Champions specials. Rather, it appears they will be "best of" shows. Nevertheless, TNA officials have to be thrilled to have these negotiations finalized.
