ROH in New York, N.Y. at the Hammerstein Ballroom

There was a 10 bell salute for Misawa. Easily one of the saddest things things I've heard in all my years as a pro wrestling fan. I was in the Grand Ballroom when he wrestled KENTA for the GHC title, one of the longest lines I have ever been on to see one man perform. He will certainly be missed.
Austin Aries cut a generic albeit entertaining promo about how he's going to win the title tonight. STFU chants from the NYC crowd.
1. The Young Bucks defeated Rhett Titus and Kenny King with a Swanton and Moonsault. A pleasant surprise as an opening match was match of the night until after the midway point of the show. The match ended with a Finlay roll followed by what can only be described as a 450/swanton and then a moonsault. The crowd popped huge for the finish. King and Titus were their usual awesome selves.
2. Necro Butcher over Jimmy Rave with a rollup. Jimmy then locked in the Heel Hook on Necro as Dirty Ernie and Nana stomped on Necro's leg. Colt Cabana ran in to make the save after the damage had been done. Nothing much to this match except Necro used an actually pretty sound technical reversal to score the pinfall.
Ric Flair cut a promo. He put over ROH as soon to be big time. He pointed at a woman in the crowd and asks why she didn't go to his autograph session as she could've gotten in for free, classic stuff. After the promo looked at another woman ringside and offered to make a woman out of her.
3. Roderick Strong defeated Sonjay Dutt with a Gibson Driver. Good match with solid in-ring action and lots of backbreaks used by Strong. A funny bit came when Dutt's Du-Rag came off mid match and ringside crowd cheers "cover your bald spot" at Dutt who responds with a middle finger.
Bret "Hitman" Hart announced for the next New York show on September 26, which will be upstairs at the Grand Ballroom for some reason.
4. Jimmy Jacobs defeated Tyler Black in a first blood match. They were fighting before the bell apparently and Jimmy spiked Black in the head with a screw-driver that had him bleeding before the match even began. The ref called for the bell to start the match, saw blood on Black, and Jimmy won the first blood match. WFT? Jimmy licked blood off of Tyler's forehead (eww). Tyler snapped and beat Jimmy down and took out both refs in the process. He took a mic and announced that he's cashing in his title shot tonight, making it a triple threat.
5. Colt Cabana beat Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli, and D-Lo Brown by making D-Lo submit to the Billy Goats Curse. Fun action all over, good performance by all involved. Downright hilarious interaction between Am Drag and Cabana. Danielson threatened Cabana in the end but shook his hand before they exit.
6. The American Wolves(c) defeated Kevin Steen and El Generico to retain the ROH Tag Titles. Edwards made Generico submit to a single leg crab/heel hook hybrid after Davey Richards hit Generico's knee with the ring bell. Awesome tag match.
7. Jay Briscoe defeated Little Guido via Jay Driller. A decent match for what it was worth. Nunzio recieves a well deserved show of respect from the fans as well a few ECW chants.
8. Austin Aries defeated Tyler Black and Jerry Lynn (c) to win the ROH World Championship. Nigel McGuinness was the outside special referee. Tyler Black eliminated Jerry Lynn first with God's Last Gift (my sister looked at me and said Lynn is a sucker cause Nigel would've never had agreed to this-HAHAHA). Austin Aries eliminated Tyler Black with a Brainbuster after several minutes of incredible action to win the ROH World Championship.
"This is Awesome" chants come after Tyler grabbed the ropes after a 450 for A-Double. Austin Aries is the first ever two time ROH World Champion, and Titus and King come out to celebrate with him carrying him on their shoulders around the ring. Tyler's title win is once again dangled in our faces leaving me personally to wonder if they didn't give it to him tonight, when will they? I am a die-hard Dragon fan, but I think the time to make him a two-time champ passed long ago. The Aries title win makes sense, just not at Tyler Black's expense, as Tyler has now had at least five attempts to win the belt, and has come no closer than the first time.
