8/15 ROH in Cleveland: Nigel McGuinness vs. El Generico, Roderick Strong and Brent Albright vs. Chris Hero and Go Shiozaki, Jimmy Jacobs recruits his mystery tag partner
Aug 16, 2008 - 12:17 AM

ROH in Cleveland, Oh.
By Dot Net reader Adam

Its been almost two years since ROH was last in Cleveland. I was really impressed. They delivered their best Cleveland show ever.

Dark Matches

1. Mitch Franklin and Shane Hollister beat Blue Ninja and Yellow Ninja.

2. Local favorite Johnny Gargano beat Sami Callihan.

Alex Payne and a guy with Red Bull tights beat Midwest Air and Ground (Nate Bash and Sailer).

Main Show

1. Kevin Steen beat Jigsaw. Not a great match for Jigsaw, but Steen was way over and very entertaining.

2. Delerious destroyed Rhett Titus. Titus was busted open bad. Meanwhile, Jimmy Jacobs and Alice Wonderland were shouting at Delirious. In the end the ref stopped to match and awarded it to Delirious. Jacobs convinced Delerious to join AOTF.

3. Bryan Danielson beat Kenny King. An amazing match. Both did great. Danielson had a really, really bad sun burn, which added great humor in the opening moments. Kenny King is looking better than ever.

4. Sara Del Rey destroyed a female wrestler in seconds. They never announced the name of Del Rey's opponent.

5. Adam Pearce beat Ruckus.

6. Austin Aries fought Tyler Black in an AOTF scientific match. Great work by both. The end brought out Age of the Fall, which brought out Briscoes.

7. The Briscoes beat Jimmy Jacobs and Delirious.

INTERMISSION. Best First Half Ever.

8. Erick Stevens defeated Claudio Castagnoli by DQ. Claudio got DQ'd after shoving the ref and refusing to let up on Erik Stevens, who was buried in the corner getting beat down with a series of knee shots to the head.

9. Chris Hero and Go Shiozaki beat Roderick Strong and Brent Albright. Possibly the best match of the night.

10. Nigel McGuiness beat El Generico to retain the ROH Title. We all knew that would happen but there were countless near falls in Generico's favor. On paper, not a good looking main event but live it really got over big time with the crowd.

Notes: Definitely the best cleveland show of all previous visits (this was the 6th). I can say for the first time that anyone who did not attend should really buy this DVD when it comes out. Awesome night of great matches and a lot more action than I have ever seen from ROH. Thanks ROH for coming back finally. We really missed you.
