4/12 ROH in Edison: New tag champions crowned, Nigel McGuinness defends the ROH Title against Kevin Steen
Apr 13, 2008 - 05:44 PM

ROH in Edison, N.J. at the Inman Sports Club
Report by Dot Net reader Herb Kraft

1. El Generico beat Jack Evans in the opener. Theout featured a rock/paper/scissors game to determine who went first in a dance off. Crowd volume favored Evans.

Nigel McGuinness appeared and asked El Generico to deliver a message to Kevin Steen (his opponent later in the evening). He put El Generico into the London Dungeon arm lock. Steen made the save.

2. Jigsaw (w/Julius Smokes) pinned Mitch Franklin.

3. Chris Hero and Eddie Edwards (w/Sweet and Sour Inc.) over Erick Stevens and Pelle Primeau.

4. Brent Albright (w/Larry Sweeney) beat Delirious with a Fujiwara arm lock.

5. Necro Butcher defeated FIP Champion Roderick Strong in a non-title match. Erick Stevens interfered to setup the win for Necro. Necro attempted to take the FIP Title belt but was finally stopped when the ref snatched the belt away.

Tammy Sytch insulted Larry Sweeney.

6. Claudio Castagnoli beat Kota Ibushi. Ibushi reminds me of Hyabusa as “H.” Huge favorable reaction to the match.

7. ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness defeated "Mr. Wresting" Kevin Steen. In an “old school” finish, Steen was milliseconds from victory when McGuinness reached the ropes to break Steen’s sharpshooter. McGuinness then pinned Steen by holding onto the ropes. The finish drew considerable “old school” heat from the fans. Steen called out ROH CEO Cary Silkin and complained about the result. Finally, a group of wrestlers convinced Steen to end the tirade.

8. The Briscoes beat Davey Richards and Rocky Romero to win the ROH Tag Titles. The Briscoes scored the pin after a second attempt at the “Doomsday Device.” The Briscoes become five time champs.

The announced return date is October 25.
