ROH on HDNet
Taped in Philadelphia, Penn.

[Q1] An ad aired for DBD8. The tag line was, "Be warned. This is not PG." That was accompanied by a shot of El Generico choking Kevin Steen with a tie...

The opening video aired. Mike Hogewood plugged tonight's main event...

Kevin Steen and Steve Corino made their entrance. Steen stopped the announcer and introduced himself. He said Hog and Dave Prazak have been talking shit about him and Corino, so he gave them the opening match off. He said he and Corino would announce the match...

1. Kevin Steen defeated Bobby Shields in 2:03. Steen and Corino called the match as it happened. Good stuff. Steen won with the Crossface...

Twill's Two Cents: Entertaining stuff with Steen and Corino playing off of one another very well. I'd like to see Steen be the next in line to go after Tyler Black. By the way, Corino should be announcing somewhere when he is done wrestling. He's great on the stick.

Backstage, Kyle Durden gave an update on Necro Butcher. He said the doctors were reluctant to clear him. Butcher told him earlier the world would see a side of him we've never seen before...

Butcher made his entrance with an overnight bag and shoes on. He said he spent a lot of time in the hospital and did not have insurance. He could not afford to wrestle tonight. He had a suitable replacement.

Butcher took off as Grizzly Redwood made his entrance...

2. Grizzly Redwood defeated Erick Stevens (with Mr. Ernesto Osiris and Prince Nana) in 7:19. Early success for Grizzly, but Stevens quickly turned things around. He even had some help from Nana and Osiris.

[Q2] Stevens applied a bearhug and rammed him into the corner. Grizzly scored a nearfall after a short offensive flurry which included a hurricarana and tornado DDT. Erick came back and hit the runaway train and two lariats. He pulled Grizzly up. Grizzly then rolled him up for the win...

Afterward, the Embassy beat the crap out of Redwood. Rasche Brown hit the ring and dove awkwardly between the middle and bottom rope. He went after Prince Nana but Stevens attacked him from behind.

As they attacked Brown, Nana introduced the new crown jewel of the Embassy. Necro Butcher came out in a suit and king's robe. Necro had a board that said "Rasche" on it. He broke it over Rasche's head. The new Embassy posed in the ring... [C]

Twill's Two Cents: You have to polish the Necro Butcher for days to turn him into a crown jewel. If you saw the PPV, this was not a surprise to you. If you didn't, then you could have been surprised by this.

Hogewood was confused at why Necro jumped to the Embassy. Prazak continuously told him it was for the money. "I still don't see it," said Hogewood...

Twill's Two Cents: Okay Hog, man needs money, people offer money, man accepts money. Clear enough?

Highlights of the very good Death Before Dishonor VIII pay-per-view were shown...

Black vs. Generico was hyped for tonight...

[Q3] 3. Christian Able and Josh Raymond defeated Cheech and Cloudy in 8:43. Hog said Ring of Honor was all about new teams getting a chance on television. I thought it was about superior wrestling. Stay strong Hog. Cloudy took some early damage but was able to come back.

Impressive double team work from Cheech and Cloudy, resulting in a nearfall and a nice double submission to both opponents. Able and Raymond came back and pulled Cloudy violently to the floor.

Cheech tagged in and hit a series of impressive moves. A double team moonsault nearly scored the win for Able and Raymond. They won the match with a top rope double team double knee stop...

Twill's Two Cents: Crowd was dead, but it was an enjoyable tag team match. Able and Raymond looked good in the ring and they need to develop distinct personas. Surprising loss for Cheech and Cloudy here.

The Dark City Fight Club cut a promo on the Kings of Wrestling and put them over as a smart, great tag team. They will face each other next week...

Footage of Christopher Daniels' promo on Tyler Black and Davey Richards from a few weeks back was shown. Next week, Daniels and Roderick Strong will team to face the American Wolves...

4. El Generico defeated Tyler Black by DQ in a non-title match in 11:08. Fast and impressive chain wrestling sequence to open the match between the two.

[Q4] Impressive deep armdrags by Generico to take over the offensive advantage in the match. Black hit a huge dropkick for a nearfall. With Black on the floor, Generico hit a somersault plancha. He nearly won the match with a high cross body.

The pace picked up with both men hitting counters and scoring nearfalls. With Generico in the tree of woe, Tyler hit a double stomp from the top. Generico put his foot on the bottom rope before the referee could count to three.

Generico hit a nasty looking t-bone followed by the coast to coast for a two count. Generico set up Black for a kick but Kevin Steen interfered, causing the disqualification. Black hit Steen with a superkick and Steen took off to the back...

Twill's Two Cents: Good television main that really picked up steam in the last seven minutes. Steen's interference made sense and sets up two potential matches for him going forward.

Thank you for following along with me tonight. The beat goes on as I transition into Raw. Join me for that as well.
