4/9 ROH on HDNet taping: Ric Flair makes his first appearance in front of the HDNet cameras, Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong, Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black, Kevin Steen and El Generico defend the ROH Tag Titles
Apr 10, 2009 - 09:05 AM

ROH in Philadelphia, Pa. at The Arena
Report by Brian Streleckis and Steve Kriske of PWChronicle.com.

Pre-Show

1. Brandon Day and The Set defeated Andy Ridge, Adam Cole and John Kermon.

2. Bobby Dempsey defeated Ninja Brown.

3. Shadow Phoenix defeated Bobby Shields.

TV Tapings

Ric Flair opened show No. 7 with a promo and invited new ROH champ Jerry Lynn out to the ring. Austin Aries came out and cut a promo on both. Flair is now “ROH Ambassador."

1. Chris Hero defeated Kenny Omega. Hero was back to wearing long tights, and won with a loaded elbow.

2. Necro Butcher defeated Brodie Lee. The classic mat technician scored the win with an O’Connor Roll.

3. Erick Stevens defeated Sal Rinauro.

4. Austin Aries defeated Roderick Strong. By far the longest match of this hour, and a very good one. Aries hit the brainbuster for the win.

Dave Prazak and Mike Hogewood greeted the crowd and quickly left.

Prince Nana cut a promo hyping up the Embassy and running down Colt Cabana. Colt chased him off and then punched out Ernie Osiris.

5. Delirious and Daizee Haze defeated Jimmy Jacobs and MsChif. Diazee beat MsChif with the Mind Trip.

Nigel McGuinness cut a babyface promo saying he’ll heal up and come back.

6. Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards defeated Orange Cassidy and Butterscotch. The Wolves cut a promo on Kevin Steen and El Geneico after the squash win.

7. Bryan Danielson fought Tyler Black to a Double Countout. A big dive into the crowd led to the count-out in the episode 8 main event. Someone in the crowd threw a chair into the ring before the match was over.
Austin Aries came out and cut a shoot promo on the chair thrower and other fans.

8. Claudio Castagnoli defeated Brent Albright. Claudio won the latest battle in their feud with help from Prince Nana and Osiris. Cabana saved Albright from further damage after the match.

9. Dark City Fight Club defeated Grizzly Redwood and “Sugarfoot” Alex Payne.

Flair announced a 4-way title match for a future episode between Lynn, Aries, Danielson and Black. He then cut a further promo for the live crowd.

10. Jay Briscoe defeated Sami Callihan. Briscoe won with the Jay Driller.

11. Kevin Steen and El Generico defeated Rhett Titus and Kenny King. The tag champs used their brainbuster-Package Piledriver combo to earn the victory. The American Wolves attacked them after the match and put Generico through a table.

Additional notes: The 4-way title match will be tomorrow, presumably on episode No. 12. Danielson had new music which is similar to “The Final Countdown." Flair and KENTA will be at the next set of tapings, May 29-30.
