ROH News: Paul London injury update
May 5, 2013 - 07:36 PM |
Paul London suffered a concussion at ROH Border Wars on a botched double-stomp in his match with Davey Richards. Richards overshot London's chest and landed on his head, which then slammed into the apron. The concussion was announced at the TV tapings, with London promised for an unannounced future date.
Shore's Slant: The botched move was just one of those things that can happen in wrestling. What happened afterward is also something that can happen in wrestling, but shouldn't. I have confirmed both that London was knocked out by the move and that the finish we saw was the planned match finish. ROH is not directly to blame for letting him go on with that finish, but Davey Richards and referee Paul Turner certainly are. They should have called an audible and either went straight to a pinfall or found another way to finish that match. Letting a guy who was knocked out climb to the top turnbuckle is an inexcusable lapse in judgment and should be addressed by ROH immediately.
