ROH News Dot Net Exclusive Notes: Will the controversial Larry Sweeney footage air on ROH DVD? Feb 25, 2008 - 06:20 PM Email This Article | Printer Friendly Page Send Us News & Results | Back to Main Listing -No decision has been made on whether the Larry Sweeney segment that has sparked so much debate will be included on the DVD release of Ring of Honor’s Sixth Anniversary show. I have been told that the company had more in mind than just comedy when they created the angle, as the goal was to put as much heat on Sweeney as possible. There are no plans to move forward with the angle. -ROH officials are currently negotiating a new pay-per-view deal. The company signed a one-year contract last year and debuted on pay-per-view in July. ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky said in a recent PWTorch.com audio interview that the company wants to move forward with pay-per-views. At the same time, nothing is official. -Saturday’s ROH anniversary show was a near sellout, as was the show on Friday night in Deer Park, N.Y. Although we’ve head some reports from people who insinuated that ROH had poor attendance on Friday because of the snow storm, the small building was said to be packed to the point that people were watching from the hallway. ROH is not expected to return to Deer Park venue. Powell’s POV: From a selfish standpoint, I hope they put the Sweeney angle on the DVD because I would like to see it with my own eyes. I think more people would have been bothered by the angle if the live crowd had not reacted as if they were seeing a comedy segment. I’m not as comfortable with the angle as I was when I thought it was strictly done for comedy purposes, yet I still feel strongly that ROH has every right to run a story line that has been depicted far more graphically on network television shows. That being said, fans also have the right to let the company know when they are offended and many have done just that in this case.
