ROH News: 10th Anniversary Press Conference Coverage - Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Cary Silkin and others answer questions about this Sunday's iPPV
Feb 29, 2012 - 08:00 PM

GFL.tv is hosting a press conference for ROH's 10th Anniversary show, highlighted by Davey Richards, Eddie Edwards, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole, and Cary Silkin. These are the highlights of the event.

-The show was carried on All Time Great on Blogtalk Radio. The hosts (whose names I did not catch), put over ROH as a whole and said they hoped to hear trash talking from the men involved in the match.

-Cary Silkin was on first and put over that it was the 10th Anniversary and went out of his way to say there would be more to come.

-Cary put over the main event of Davey Richards and Kyle O'Reilly vs. Eddie Edwards and Adam Cole. At this point, it isn't a press conference, it's a promo for the show.

-Cary ran down the card, forgetting that Jay Lethal vs. Tomoasso Ciampa is a TC Title match, and hyped New York city being a special place to hold events.

-Adam Cole and Eddie Edwards joined the show next. Adam sounded excited, Eddie sounded high. I'm not saying he is, that is just the best description I can come up with.

-Adam was asked by a host what it was like to be in the main event after being in the lower and mid-card his career in ROH. Adam put over being excited and teaming with Eddie because of his experience and knowledge. He said he felt like they gelled instantly and felt like they had an advantage going into Sunday.

-A host asked Eddie about going back to tag work after having a long run as a singles competitor. Eddie said he had no problem shifting back. He pointed out his roots in tag team wrestling with the American Wolves.

-Kyle O'Reilly and Davey Richards joined the call. Kyle took the first question on whether he was looking to make a statement on Eddie Edwards. Kyle said he was just looking to make a statement period.

-Davey was asked about Adam Cole and if he was ready for the main event. Davey said Cole was the wildcard and that O'Reilly had more main event experience. He put over Cole as a good talent, but said Cole is the one who had the most to prove. Cole was asked the same question that O'Reilly was, but I lost the feed for a moment.

-Eddie was asked how he and Davey were ever friends with the beating they have put on each other in their various matches over the past year. Eddie said they had always respected each other and that's why they were successful as a tag team, because wrestling together or against each other, they always brought it all.

-Davey was asked the same question. He said he did the things he did to Eddie because he had to because he understood how tough Eddie was, so he had to go to a dark place to put him down, which he did. He said they would have another war this Sunday and that's the way they both wanted it.

-Cole and O'Reilly were asked if they felt the same way about each other that Eddie and Davey did. Both put over the other and said yes, they would come swinging hard on Sunday.

-Davey was asked who he was going to kick in the face first. Yes, one of the hosts actually asked that. Davey said he didn't make a list, but Adam Cole should learn to duck.

-Eddie was asked what type of tag team he and Cole would be. Cole said everybody knew what O'Reilly and Richards offered as a team, but no one knew what he and Cole were capable of and they would be surprised.

-Darius from Hit the Ropes radio called in and asked if this event was an opportunity for Cole and O'Reilly to step out and take their place in ROH. Cole said this was definitely an opportunity for them to prove they were the future of the company. Darius asked Davey and Eddie if they were going to give their partners their blessing or go down swinging. Eddie said he was going down with a fight, Kyle would have to take the torch if he wanted it. Davey said he wasn't there to groom people or lead, he was there to hurt people.

-Davey was asked what he had to prove in the match. Davey said he was there to prove he was the best in the world no matter what the match was. He crapped on the idea of it being a pass the torch match and said O'Reilly and Cole weren't in the main event because of a favor, they had earned it.

-Eddie piggy backed off that idea that Cole and O'Reilly weren't rookies, they had been around the block and that they had earned their spots.

-A caller asked if they felt any pressure with this being the 10th Anniversary Show. Eddie said yes they did, but they always wanted to put the best show on. Cole echoed the sentiment. Richards said he and Kyle weren't there to put on a show for anybody, they were there to hurt people and win.

-Cary was asked about the show and he put over the work ethic of everyone involved, and said these four men were going to show that and have a great match.

-All four men gave their final thoughts. Cole put over ROH and it being ten years old, Eddie said they were going to have a great match, O'Reilly channeled Davey and said "Team Ambition" was real and Cole and Edwards were going to have to kill them to beat them, Davey closed by saying he was going to drop some truth, and that Eddie and Adam needed to duck because there would be no mercy in New York.

Shore's Slant: This was a worked press conference and the hosts of the show came across as more fan than media. Especially the one guy who kept asking inane questions. They only took two questions from outside, and only one from any sort of "press." It wasn't very interesting or good. Cole and O'Reilly sounded hungry, at least when O'Reilly wasn't trying to be Davey Jr. Eddie sounded bored. Davey was the same too intense character he always is. The closing comments were just too much for the setting.
