ROH star Veda Scott talks WWE Network, being part of the show with Chris Hero vs. AJ Styles, The PWI Rookie of the Year award, and more

On her expectations in her upcoming match with Seleziya Sparks: I think this is going to be her first match in North America since returning from Japan and I'm eager to see what she has that's new and it's kind of nerve-racking for me because I can't prepare for her as well as I normally do. Although I know her wrestling really well, she just had two months of training and matches far away from us that I haven't seen so I have no idea what she might pull out. But I'm so glad Smash has me back. I had a great time the last time I was there, and I won. I would love to continue wrestling there in the future as much as possible.

On being The 2012 Pro Wrestling Illustrated rookie of the year: That was crazy because I didn't know a whole lot about it. I didn't know that it would be a possibility until it got further along, so for me it was really exciting and really unexpected. And I will say this, I've been a wrestling fan my entire life and one of the things that was a huge part of my childhood were magazines like PWI, and I know they have a amazing online version of their magazine, but when I was growing up you got everything in print. My mom would by these magazines for me, so one of the coolest things for me was not just the recognition, and I was so honored by that, but just the fact that I had something that I could show my mother who doesn't necessarily understand a whole lot about pro wrestling but remembers the boxes of magazines that she probably still has in her attic. I could bring her to the supermarket with her and have something tangible that I could show my family.

On Chris Hero vs. AJ Styles on Smash Wrestling: I'm really excited and honored to have been asked to be a part of it because it is a huge, huge show for them. The thing that's really cool about it is that the crowd is going to be super excited to see all the matches on the card. Not just the main event, even though the main event is going to be gigantic, and when you have a bigger match with bigger names like (Chris) Hero & AJ (Styles) coming back into independent wrestling after a while, the crowd is so excited and that trickles down to the entire show so everyone benefits from it and I'm just glad Smash put this together.

Thoughts on WWE Network and its possible effect on Independent Promotions: I think it's super exciting. I watch as much wrestling as possible, but the whole concept from what I've seen all looks pretty sweet. I don't see any reason to be negative about it at all. I think that people are really getting acclimated to watching wrestling online or watching on a tablet and right now a lot of independent promotions now are releasing their shows not only on DVD, but streaming and mp4 and it's great because you can download content instantly. So this shouldn't be a hard transition at all. So, I think it's great. As long as people buying and supporting Independent Wrestling which I don't see any reason not to. I've heard people say people now won't spend that ten dollars on an indy show which is complete nonsense and not even relevant at all. If anything, you should take the money that you're saving on not buying Pay Per Views and spend it on a show by a local promotion, so I think it could benefit everyone.
