ROH News: Jay Briscoe to issue a public apology, donating his pay for two events to charity

Ring of Honor sent the following press release featuring Jay Briscoe offering a public apology for his Twitter remarks regarding his viewpoint on gay marriage.

Jay Briscoe would like to again express his sincerest apologies and regrets to all, especially his young fans, for his recent hateful twitter comment. Ring of Honor has insisted that Jay also make a public apology at the Ring of Honor event this Saturday night. Jay will address the public during the event.

In addition to this apology, Ring of Honor and Jay have agreed that he will donate his full pay from the next two Ring of Honor events to the Partners Against Hate charitable organization. Powell's POV: It's good to see Sinclair Broadcast Group and/or ROH officials are taking this seriously. I'm sure some will feel they went too far and others will feel they didn't go far enough with the punishment. I have no problem with Briscoe voicing his opinion on the same sex marriage debate even though I strongly disagree with his feelings on the matter. The issue for me was the bad choice of wording when he said he would "f---ing shoot" anyone who tried to teach his children there is nothing wrong with gay marriage, and the fact that he has used homophobic slurs in the past.
