ROH News: First round matches announced for ROH Championship tournament

ROH has announced the first round matchups and dates for the tournament to crown a new ROH Champion after Jay Briscoe was stripped of the title in a storyline injury (Briscoe's contract actually expired.) The matchups and dates are:

July 27th -TV taping - Providence, Rhode Island
-Silas Young vs. Adam Page for final spot in tournament
-Adam Cole vs. Mark Briscoe
-Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt
-Karl Anderson vs. ACH

August 3rd - All Star Extravaganza V - Toronto, Ontario Canada
-Tommaso Ciampa vs. Winner of July 27th match between Silas Young & Adam Page
-Michael Bennett vs. BJ Whitmer
-Kevin Steen vs. Brian Kendrick
-Michael Elgin vs. Paul London
-Roderick Strong vs. Matt Taven

Shore's Slant: My best guess is Young wins the final spot, but whoever wins is going to lose to Ciampa in August. I don't have a good feeling about who wins here yet, but it should be a good tournament. It's a shame we won't get to see the August show on iPPV.
