Former ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky says Faction Warfare didn't live up to its potential, explains why the way TNA described Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles drove him crazy

Former Ring of Honor booker Gabe Sapolsky The concept was really simple and encompassed a number of principles. It would spawn out of the breakup of the highly successful Generation Next group. You would then have the three Gen Next members, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong and Jack Evans, leading their own distinct factions. I had actually been really uncomfortable with the "Generation Next" name for Aries, Strong and Evans for a while before the breakup. After all, by 2006 they weren't "Generation Next" anymore. They were our CURRENT stars and main eventers.

"It would always drive me crazy when TNA would present Samoa Joe and AJ Styles as the 'future.' How are the fans supposed to put them on the same pedestal as Kurt Angle, Sting, etc... when they are constantly being told that these guys are the 'future,' meaning that they just aren't quite there yet as the current stars.

"For instance, in the NFL when you hear that someone is the quarterback of the future you know that he is good and someone to keep an eye on, but he is young, inexperienced and still developing. He isn't Tom Brady yet. I wanted these guys to be today's Tom Brady's, not tomorrow's Matt Ryan's." To read the full blog, visit Gabe's Myspace Page.

Powell's POV: Gabe also discussed the Chikara "King of Trios" tournament that takes place this weekend, and has a lot more to say about Faction Warfare and how much fun he had booking it. As always, it's an informative read and a learning experience, particularly for ROH fans.
