12/3 Kester's The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale Live Coverage Review: Michael Bisping vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller, Diego Brandao vs. Dennis Bermudez, T.J. Dillashaw vs. John Dodson, Tony Ferguson vs. Yves Edwards, and Louis Gaudinot vs. Johnny Bedford

The Ultimate Fighter
Aired live on SpikeTV from the Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada

Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan welcomed us to the show and ran down the card. They hyped the finalists for The Ultimate Fighter and reminded us that the main event will be five rounds long.

1. Louis "Goodnight" Gaudinot (5-1) vs. Johnny "Brutal" Bedford (17-10-1) [Bantamweight Division]

Round One: 10-8 Bedford. Bedford got an early takedown and spent the rest of the round mounting Gaudinot and taking his back. Bedford rained punches the entire time, and Gaudinot could do nothing but survive.

Round Two: 1-8 Bedford. Rinse and repeat, Bedford got the early takedown and stayed on top of Gaudinot. The only difference is how the round ended; Bedford went for an armbar rather than continuing to rain punches.

Round Three: Bedford rocked Gaudinot with a high knee and worked a crumbled Gaudinot over with body kicks and knees until Mazigotti stepped in and ended the fight.

Official Decision: Winner by TKO at 1:58 of the third round, Johnny Bedford.

Ryan's Rant: Bedford could not have looked better in that fight. He proved tonight that he can hang in the UFC and I look forward to seeing him again.

2. Tony "El Cucuny" Ferguson (13-2) vs. Yves Edwards (41-17-1) [Lightweight Division]

Round One: 10-9 Ferguson. Very close round with Edwards getting in more strikes, but Ferguson landed more that mattered, Ferguson was the aggressor and control where the fight went. Ferguson opened up late and the round ended with both men throwing wild punches.

Round Two: 10-9 Edwards. Mirror image of the last round. Still very close, but Yves was the aggressor and landed more significant strikes. Ferguson did get a very late takedown but did absolutely nothing with the position.

Round Three: 10-9 Edwards. Once again, the round was very close. I give the edge to Edwards because he managed to change levels well and landed more strikes than he missed.

Official Decision: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 for the winner by unanimous decision, Tony Ferguson

Ryan's Rant: Very good fight. Ferguson has a crazy chin as he ate five or six head kicks and never once appeared to be rocked. Absolutely close fight and I can't fault the judges for giving the fight to Ferguson even though I had Edwards as the winner.

3. T.J. Dillashaw (5-0) vs. John "The Magician" Dodson (12-5) [Bantamweight Division]

Round One: The two exchanged blows but Dodson caught Dillashaw with a left hook and followed with a stiff forearm to knock Dillashaw out.

Official Decision: Winner by TKO at 1:54 of the very first round, John Dodson

Dana White presented Dodson with the Ultimate Fighter 14 Bantamweight Plaque.

Ryan's Rant: Dodson is a little pitbull. He doesn’t look like he should have the stopping power he does, but he's a little powerhouse. Dillashaw protested the stoppage, but he was in no man's land when Dean pulled Dodson off of him.

Dennis Bermudez won 25k for the best submission of the season when he defeated Akira Corrasani at 3:12 of the first via a guillotine choke. John Dodson picked up 25k for his KO of Johnny Bedford when they met in the semi-finals. Fight of the season bonuses, 25k each, went to Dustin Pauge and Lois Gaudinot.

4. Diego "Ceara" Brandao (18-7) vs. Dennis "The Menace" Bermudez (8-2) [Lightweight Division]

Round One: Both men exchanged hard shots the entire round. Bermudez rocked Brandao in a big way and tried desperately to finish the fight. However, Brandao managed to catch him very late with a surprise armbar. He wasted no time in snapping the arm and forcing Bermudez to tap.

Official Decision: Winner by submission at 4:51 of the very first round, Diego Brandao

Dana White presented Diego Brandao with the Ultimate Fighter 14 Lightweight Plaque.

Ryan's Rant: Oh my lord, what a fight. I fully expected Bermudez to try and take the fight to the ground so I was surprised to see him exchange with Brandao and come out on top. Still, Brandao would not be denied and he made sure Bermudez had no chance of surviving the round once he got that armbar locked in.

Prelim. Dustin Pague vs. John Albert [Bantamweight Division]

Round One: Albert pounced on Pague early and wrapped his arms up. Albert unloaded and Pague was unable to defend himself, so Dean stopped the fight.

Official Decision: Winner by TKO at 1:09 of the very first round, John Albert.

Ryan's Rant: Good showing for Albert. He went in with a game plan and it worked perfectly.

5. Michael "The Count" Bisping (22-3) vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller (24-70-0, 1 NC) [Middleweight Division]

Round One: 10-9 Miller. Both men were pretty evenly matched on the feet, but Miller got a huge takedown and took the round.

Round Two: 10-9 Bisping. Even striking to start, but Bisping absolutely dominated towards the end of the round. Miller did not seem fazed by the strikes, but he is absolutely gassed.

Round Three: Bisping simply outlasted Miller and landed heavy blow after heavy blow. Mazigotti stopped the fight when Miller was on the ground and Bisping threw knees to the body.

Official Decision: Winner by TKO at 3:34 of the third round, Michael Bisping

Ryan's Rant: I expected a lot more from Miller than what we got. He showed a little bit of fire during the first round but he didn't fight intelligently and gassed himself way too early. Bisping, on the other hand, looked to be in great form and he relentlessly pounded Miller until he was pulled off of him.

Overall Show: Good series of fights and a bit for everyone. If you like wars, there were plenty, if you like submissions, Brandao delivered with a beautiful armbar, and we saw several finishes for those who prefer explosive, quick fights. All around good card and a great way for the Ultimate Fighter to leave SpikeTV.
