Interview Highlights
Former wrestler recalls Ted DiBiase Sr. telling him that Vince McMahon is evil and that he'd never work for him again
By Jason Powell Oct 8, 2009 - 10:35 AM

World Wrestling Insanity interview with Paul Roma
Host: James Guttman
Interview available at WorldWrestlingInsanity.com via ClubWWI.

Every time Paul Roma joins James Guttman on ClubWWI.com, there's surprising statements and tons of controversy. This week is no exception as Paul shocks listeners with his stance on Linda McMahon's run for Senate, his surprising offer to Linda, thoughts on Chris Dodd, and more. But the Connecticut resident doesn't end there. Roma also speaks out on a ton of topics including The Most Overrated Wrestlers of Paul's Era, The Politics of Triple H, The Surprising Place Paul Saw Hunter's Face, Monkeys Doing Highspots, The Clumsy Nasty Boys, Why No One Would Help Ted Arcidi, Lex Luger's Lack of Charisma, Why Brock Lesnar Left, Personal Feelings About The Ultimate Warrior, How Much WWE Pays Legends To Stand At Ringside, Advice From Mr. Fuji, The Timing of Hulk Hogan, Lunch With Vince McMahon, Hillbilly Jim's Comments on ClubWWI, Ric Flair's Legacy, Dino Bravo, Harley Race and More. You can hear it now on ClubWWI.com and read the full list of topics at http://www.worldwr estlinginsanity.com/am2/publish/newsnotes/Glorious3.shtml

On the subject of overpushed wrestlers through the years, James and Paul Roma speak about Triple H and his super-push. Roma discusses the changes Hunter has made through the years, the politics he plays, and the bizarre place he saw his face when he went to MSG last year. Guttman brings up the recent DX vs. Legacy feud and how the night after Hell in a Cell, Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes didn't even appear on Raw following their loss to Hunter and Shawn Michaels, yet Trips and HBK appeared…and won a tag match against Big Show and Chris Jericho. While Paul discusses that situation, it's the name DiBiase that sparks a rant. He addresses The Million Dollar Man, another former ClubWWI.com guest, and the former Horseman shoots hard…

"You mentioned (Ted) DiBiase and his son and all that. I guess probably like ten years ago, I had spoken to DiBiase, he was out of wrestling, and he became this reverend or whatever he became. So I called him up and we were talking and he goes, 'Yeah. Listen. I found a good place.' He says, 'I was a bad person when I was with Vince (McMahon). I'll never go back to that again. He's evil. Blah, blah, blah.' And then, the next thing I know, this guy is working for Vince again. Like, you know, so at the end of the day it doesn't matter - wait let me rephrase that. At the end of the day, for Ted DiBiase, he can preach all he wants. He can talk about God all he wants. Bu his God is spelled M-O-N-E-Y."

James laughs and says that was always part of The Million Dollar Man's gimmick, but Paul points out that his decision flies in the face of selling anything.

"If he really believes and wanted to sell me what he was trying to sell me, he wouldn't be back with Vince. He wouldn't be back with the devil."

Guttman compares this to Billy Graham's up and down feelings for Vince and WWE. He's gone from hating them to loving them to hating them again. It seems like some legends should pick a side and stick to it because going back and forth does nothing for their own credibility. Paul agrees and explains to ClubWWI.com listeners that the financial reward isn't even that great.

"If DiBiase went and sat at ringside or, you know, Vince gave him um-teen thousand dollars and he said, 'OK. I'll go back in the ring and do this.' And he needed the payday, that's fine. Go do it. But you're working for him on a consistent basis. Again, I don't know what people's financial situations are and, again, if you want to go and do that one shot deal and get a payday, great. But to go sit at ringside and have Vince pay you 500 bucks is a slap in your face. Do you really need $500 that bad? Really? That's what they're getting to sit at ringside when he was bringing in legends and sit them there. That's what he's getting. So you want to turn around and he wants to put you in the ring with somebody to do a legends match or a legend against some newbie and you want to do a job, that's your call. He wants to put you over, that's your call too. But at the end of the day, make it worth your while."

Roma explains that he gets offers to appear at shows. The promoter says they can pay him $500 and he responds that he's happy they can, but they can keep it and spend it on someone else. No one is safe on Glorious as Paul lays into many former guests on ClubWWI.com besides just DiBiase. Roma discusses the clumsiness of former guest Brian Knobbs and the lack of charisma by Lex Luger, who just appeared on ClubWWI.com last week. It's a show you don't want to miss. No one shoots like Paul Roma and no one has it but ClubWWI.com!
